Where and how do you research if naming names is verboten here? Go somewhere else to find the names? If so, where?

I wasn't questioning the guidelines, I was questioning the moronic "you should have researched and known better" advice.

1. Google the name of the estate owner and see if anything pops up. That will show you any blog/third party forums, etc mentions of the name.

2.If they cannot be researched in this way, try IMing some current residents of the sim you are looking at. Ask how long they have lived there and if there were issues.

3. Ask here for recommendations of good land lords. It is ok to name names in that way, just not in a business ruining manner.

4. Hang around on the sim for awhile and see if there are problems with performance.

That will get someone started.

Oh, and I am sure the mod that locks this thread later will appreciate the cut and paste they will be able to do with your quote Damien.

In addition to what Mac stated, if someone makes a complaint in the forums without using the names, you can always pm them and ask them who they are referring to.

If Damien made a post saying "I got ripped off by a land baron how can I prevent this in the future? " And I happen to be looking at land at oh.. let's say Dreamland. I PM Damien and say "was it Dreamland?" He PMs back and says "No", then I know in this case I am good to go.

I just don't get these OPs that come in.. throw a bombshell in the middle of the forum and then poof. I guess that is thanks to NPIOF being able to post. Easier to risk an unused or new alt to do the dirty work.
