looks like they changing ip's on the hostname. weird.
since with vollee you do not run the client on your phone. the client is hosted on their servers and is streamed to your phone. They also do this for world of warcraft. So your password and information is sent to vollee's servers since the actual instance of the client is sitting on their server not your phone. I for one prefer to have the client on my own pc/device and password sent from me to second life servers. Not bounced from me, to a 3rd part then to second life. that could get dangerous. Especially if you watch the intercept cellphone data videos on youtube where people sit in a mall with a laptop and cellphone and while in a passive scan mode they show all text messages and data going thru the airwaves onto the laptop screen being intercepted. gaming would be fine but since there's real money tied up in people's second life account, I would be hesitant to use it. Unless the client was downloaded onto my phone and not streamed. Vollee's proprietary solution is the only technology currently available that can stream high-end PC titles to mobile, including popular massively multiplayer online role playing games. The company's VolleeX engine adapts applications for screen size and key layout, and then streams the original application to mobile devices. Vollee's interactive video streaming platform optimizes compression to minimize bandwidth requirements and also leverages the 3G mobile networks in such a way that gamers can easily and smoothly navigate virtual worlds. Information is sent from the user to Vollee's servers then resent to the game server bypassing the need to install the software onto the customer's device. id say be careful... _____________________

Vollee.com doesn't load for me at all. Is it still a valid site? The article is a year old.

http://www.vollee.com/secondlife Seems to be down. This could be a good thing. Perhaps they are getting it ready for iPhone.

Use this instead: http://dev.vollee.com/secondlife
I wish they would make something like this for the PC. I have an older laptop that i take with me for work. Unfortunately, SL wont support the video card (intel 915). If they can stream SL to a phone, im sure it can be streamed to a PC. |

Vollee transferred to a different company

I've been on various websites and gathered as much info as possible. Apparently, vollee sold out to a company called GamesGround or something and they are re-developing Second Life for cell fones because the last one was a Beta version. I've been a member on SL since last october and knew about Second Life in 2007 but didnt work on my old computer. If I had known about Second Life vollee last year June when I had my N95, it wouldnt have been a problem but the sad story is I didnt know. So yeah. In the mean time, the only virtual worlds I have on my cell fone is Motropolis and Bobba. Bobba is sorta like sims 2 version of Cell fone but can talk to people, make friends, build houses etc but aint as fun as Second Life... Motropolis is a 3D virtual world and its soooo boring and not as fun as Bobba cos the avatars look retarded, sorta like south park characters on dope, LOL and you nobody is on that and even if there was, only maximum of five people can chat. LOL... I really hope Vollee starts to work soon because I really need second life on my fone..

There is another option using a VPN connection to your PC (see This Link ). This method requires you tio have a home computer capable of running SL, but you don't have to send your account info to a third party. There is also a company called Comverse that has demo'd a similar approach to Vollee using a central server to push an optimized stream to a mobile device.

I am using Sparkle from www.genkii.com on my iPhone to access Second Life. It has been very reliable.
Also use Tapatalk to access the forums and post from your iPhone. I would love to see the SL Desktop program Metabolt.com become a iPhone App. _____________________

Most people can't manage to talk on their cell phones without walking into me. The *last* thing I want is for those people to be trying to figure out how to make some sexbed work with their furry av on their freaking cell phone while driving at 90 miles an hour through the stop light and straight at the busload of underprivileged elementary school children delivering flowers to the old people's home.
