Has anyone else noticed a marked increase in deliverate bumping and pushing recently?
This is not where someone has just tp'd in and starts moving before things and people have rezzed, but where people actually line up and deliberately bump and push into people for no reason whatsoever.
Personally, I find it rude and anti-social, as well as being against most sim's rules and sl regulations in general. Its like people who in rl fimd it funny to throw stones at your door or windows.
My partner had ocassion to be victim of this just today. She was actually in flight at the time and the person in question (who has been reported) deliberately flew up and bumped into her again and again, knocking her almost to the back of the room. And why? She had said nothing or done nothing to this person and given him no reason to do this whatsoever.

I saw some guys down at the welcome center once with some type of 'karate' kick animation that would actually throw their foot into another avatar. They were quite effective at knocking everyone out of the central area to their amusement.
I don't think it's new, annoying yes, and little that can be done besides using Mysti tool that can keep you from being moved.

I like bumping afk people in malls. Ok, by people I mean my partner. What? It's so rewarding to hear the headset get picked up, and he goes "So anyways, I was gonna... uh.. what the hell am I doing inside the wa.... DARION!!" (But yeah, I leave innocent bystanders be)

No, it's certainly not new . . . but the degree to which it is rude can depend on context. If it is entirely unexpected, or targets noobs or even just strangers, it's a mild form of griefing. My favourite in this category are the morons who attach super-sized genitalia to themselves, and proceed to "bump" into as many female avatars as they can. On the other hand, I became quite notorious myself at Mill Pond for pushing avatars who were AFK into the pond . . . these were, of course, friends or people I knew reasonably well, and it was invariably taken in the spirit with which it was intended: "just good fun." In fact, an old friend joked with me about this old habit of mine just the other night (lamenting that he didn't have a towel on hand . . .) Yeah. My sense of humour is nothing if not very sophisticated . . .

Does it hurt? What bad actually happens?
Things you can do... sit on an object, use a movelock, go non physical, ignore it since it doesn't hurt.

It's an old sport, unfortunately. Besides ARing, another useful method is to use any of several defensive devices to make your avatar phantom. That will save you the aggravation of getting bumped since the bugger will pass right through you, and it will frustrate him as you laugh at and mock him. And call him out in shout if others are around, so they are warned.
Of course, the pass-through is still annoying, but if you are in or can get to a script-enabled location there are several devices that will remove him from the scene and make it a nuisance for him to get back - at which time you can remove him again. Not that I am recommending this, of course, since it would be wrong and a TOS violation and all. But IF someone were to do such a terrible thing, I say IF, they would of course make sure they had filed their AR on the bumper first...

It's more fun to dress AFK avatars in phantom diapers and deelyboppers and post the images on your blog.
Or so I hear.

My Mysti is my fav friend. Move Lock...On. I do enjoy as do all our friends, the push your afk av into something. It's either that or the lovely Masturbating box that goes over you. Hint on surf sims, we have a sick sense of humor so it's best to not go afk around us. And it's an ooooold sport.

From: Lissa Pinion or the lovely Masturbating box that goes over you. I got tagged with one of those early in my SLife. I thought it was funny and later made one of my own. With a lot of these things it is best to know your audience. One person's practical joke is another's griefer attack :\

Change to a child AV, then AR them for trying to have sexxies with a child. Add points if it is one of Lias' alts.

(long time) some jackass new person came up to me stood in front of me and used his slap animation on me! The venue owner saw it and my partner as well, my partner Imed the venue owner at once and within 2 min he was gone. Banned. I didn't do a damn thing to him I was Iming my partner and not even looking at chat... So I really dont know why this person did it.... That is about the only time I can remember someone being outright rude to me in SL.

Or you could just call them an a**hole and proceed to get over it. There are enough issues without spamming ar's for relatively harmless juvenile behavior.

I consider bumping the only way to show affection in Second Life. Hug animations just don't do it for me

I've noticed a bit more intentional bumps lately. Jealous women mostly trying to act tough and snub the ones they think might steal their limelight. I think it's funny and usually go dance next to them. On rare accasions I'll also change into something really hot and let them simmer in that feeling of being outshined till they get pissy and Tp outta there

If you use Emerald viewer, there is an anti push in that. I am not inworld at the moment to give directions to it, but it appears to make your AV phantom so can't be pushed around.
