PLEASE bring your insights on this..

I have a green land on which I rent shops and stand and host authentic ceations only.

Now this morning I end up chatting with this guy who says he want to rent on it.. then when he sees there a fees for the rent begins to change his comments about my land as if my work was quite Chit*y and not worth the quality of his creations, which rather hurt. And which he said only after knowing he would need to pay.

Not long after suddenly he wants to rent again but wants a deal proposing to advertise the land through all his known press. After a while I think ok, why not. My land isn't some 'mall' but was created with the purpose of encouraging creation in SL versus the tons of resellors out there you know, and the rent is as low as I can put it for I am not rich but still need to cover at a least a part of the tier fees. I help the creators as I can giving free weeks when I happen to have more money, modify the shops tu suit their needs as I can and even divided parts of the land so they may all have their shop seen in the show in seach with private tp.

So with his offer I though why not ? if this press covers true creations it would be good for the community and help everyone.. so I say ok show me which space you want and I'll give it to half price..

So I find myself missing all my RL meetings to set this guy shop. first he wanted spaces already rented by my best craftmen in the community. it was hard for him to understand that I couldn't (and wouldn't) actually thown merchants out for him.. he finaly chose another spot. he was very directive and impolite. I want this, do that, you have to set this, join those shops, I want this priv.. speaking to me like a tru lord to his worst slave. I felt like a damn dog (sry but that,s how it was) and I told him. he did it again. he also wanted to be able to decorate and put drapes on the wall and cover the floor. which I did allow.. other merchants on the land did as welll and so could he. anyway once the work was all done and the thing set as he wanted, he who said he in the first place he wanted it for a long long time only payed the rental box for a month. then I added him to the group and after 2 second, he turned around and said give me back my money. my jaw droped.

who were anyone would rent, mod rental space for someone.
who where anyone would rent, actually care of you asside from the money you bring..
and I give it all, and never did nor toterated so much disrespectfull behavior as for /with this guy.

his reason for, when all was done, asking for his money back?
Because he couldn't mod my prims. I have no power over that.. who does ? do you ? that's how sl works. I thought the guy was joking.. and this was not a nice joke.

Iexplain to him that can,t give him power over my prim but that in no way did it prevent him to decorate his shop as he wants.. (the great elven creator in front of did) but meanwhile he didn't wait a second: he began to tp on the land all the press he could find and tell them I stole from him!

I had just pent 4hrs with him giving everything he wanted.. and he was tping the press on my land with outstanding accusation for he didn,t have power to mod my objects.. I was just.. speachless. people who came found the situation and the guy completely ridiculous.

they actually encouraged me by pm of my patience.. but still the guy wouldn,t let go. and he was so disrespectfull.. one of the press guy told him that this mod/prim was an sl function thing and that I wasn't lying when I told him I couldn't do anything about that. After it was the press that told him the same I had , he began to lay low a bit and set his shop. but I was shocked.

when the press left, he got on my case again insulting me and tell me the get the fu*k away from him.

I set two things straight. first his deal was half price for he kept speaking of advertising the land, but as soon as the rent was payed, he had tp everyone to put my name and my land in a the total mud and so on a ridiculous issue. So of course the deal was not respected and I cut his time by half. Wich in the situation was more than fair.

Then I informed him of the land rule on respect and harrasement. we take respect of others very seriously here. Anyone caught disrespecting someone, harrassing, griefing (...) is ejected and banned from the land. if a merchant, they get the same and their rent is not refunded.

Well guess what.. he jumped on the occation and continued to harrass me for the prim mod issue. I told him again what happen if he would persist and that this went for everyone on the land from visitors to other mercants, he had to change his attitude and be polite to everyone or would lose his shop with no refund.

He continued, and added that I had no idea who *his name* was in sl, and reminded me that he paid me. As in you have no idea who you are messing with, and I will do what I please, mostly since I payed you.

That had been going one for hours now and couldn,t take it anymore. I told the guy that here respect was due to evevone and paying the rent did not buy the right to treat people in dirt.. I ejected the guy.
it was just.. too much.. I really really couldn't take it anymore.

He began tp back and harrass me from in every little square of the land cut for merchants advertisement in search! I had to enter his name in the ban list in -every- little d*mn square. And then his girlfriend came around...

I didn,t boot her. She didn,t understand what was going and was disagreeing with me banning the guy and not refund him, she didn't get either that this wasn't about the money. but she was polite therefore welcomed to stay, no matter that she accused me of dishonesty and stealing, and threaten to have everyone know what a bad and dishonest person I am.

She didn,t seem to understand the little game that this guy had done on me, but yet, he's her lover so I understand her feelings..


now I had to log off Sl.. why? the guy continues to contact all the sl press he can on me.
Of course when people hear the story they get it and not only let go, but sends me encouraging words.. however the IM's comes in faster than I can reply to.. and I had already been in IM with guy for 5 hours setting everyting he wanted, then deal with his bad press and harassement for two.. I just couldn't take it anymore. this took up my whole day.

So I ask you. Please give me your insight.
The guy -was informed- that if he persist to insult and harrass me, that he would loose his market space with no refund. and he did it anyway.

Was it wrong for me to kick him with no refund ? Who would have this guy so long and so many chances without booting him ?

What can I do about all the harrasement and the press accusing of arnaking the great *his name*

I have a big heart, and will do anything I can to help, but respect always comes first.
Anyway.. this situation completely exausted me...

There are plenty of high maintenance people in SL. Know the point where you will no longer accommodate these folks and cut your losses. And do not forget to explain to him what a rude little timesucker he is.

I stopped reading at the point when you said you'd already agreed to half off and he wanted to you to move people out of their stores. I don't know what the rest of the situation is but if I was you I wouldn't have any further dealing with this guy whatsoever after that.

I would have booted him before even getting started on his plot. I wouldn't have gone as far as you did to even warrant my time or energy, but that really is beside the point. You put in a lot of time and effort and even gave him a deal and he ripped you up. Yes, I would have banned him, I probably would have even given him his money back just to keep his ugly energy away from me, but would have been p*off that I spent a lot of time and effort for nothing. I'm sure things will settle down after awhile.

you are a model of patience and virtue. i am sorry to hear you got taken advantage of by this fellow. good on you though for standing up for your self...eventually

I think this would have been the best way to handle it.

you set the fees and rules where you're comfortable, do not let ANYONE talk you out of it, if you don't feel good about a change. it's 99& of the time not worth the extra effort

I know a treasured and valued friend who is leaving SL over a dispute with another resident. The other person got real nasty real fast and LL would not do a thing about it. So I suggest you make peace with this person however you decide to do that.

I would have kickedhim after 15 seconds. I booted an avi from my land today. She was naked and didn't put on clothes when I asked her to in IM and chat. Boom! Gone!

Ban this guy and mute him.

Too much drama. Don't be anyone's doormat. You should have gotten rid of him far earlier, the moment he started demanding things.

You didn't do anything wrong to him. He did wrong to you. Over and over. When you rented to him and tried so hard to please him, you made that choice, to continue to participate. He could only behave so horribly to someone who chose to participate.

I recommend that you get some counseling. You were needlessly manipulated by his behaviour and his threats. It doesn't have to be like that. The world is full of guys like that. Don't particiapte.

O Good Lord!! Ya poor thing....that must have been soooo upsetting for you to say the least. I agree with the other poster's comments wholeheartedly.. NEVER EVER EVER let anyone use you as a door-mat or try to manipulate you in any way, shape or form. You should be proud of the way you handled the situation.

If I were in your situation, I would give him his bloody money back and be done with him.. Eventhough he most definitely does not deserve this consideration, I'd just be glad to be rid of him...

Definitely nothing wrong done by Ambrosia.

If he's still harassing you with IM's, threats, etc send an AR (Abuse Report) for harrassment. No need to tell him that you're doing it, it'll give him a little surprise if/when LL contact him

Dont forget to keep a log of all IM's and chat.

Hun, wow! first of all, never and i mean NEVER let anyone in SL keep you from RL commitments. now mom mode off.

i wish for a tenth of your paitience, i would have taken an ar cause he would have been shot and shot again. but as another poster put it, your fees are set, he can either take it or leave it. if he was serious about it, he would have took it. or looked elsewhere. don't let internet bullies get the better of you. ban, mute and ar document any and all conversations with this persons cause it sounds like he's a nutter.

There are a lot of jack holes out there, this waste of skin was obviously just that.
I wouldn't worry about paying him back, you lost a lot of time dealing with this turd and took abuse to boot, especially after warning him.

Out of sight, out of mind. try to relax and forget about it, it's not worth the aggravation.

What made it worst i did a bit of investigatitive work on this guy.

He doesn't own any land and he hasn't even built anything other than a rotating orange sphere which he named "planete spirale". Basically it something you'd knock up in 5 mins in a sandbox and stick a rotation script inside.

With "No Payment on file" he is part of Group that owns a 2500 sq/m plot on a Dreamland sim and is listed as an Advisor to that group and not the Owner of the land. He has a Japanese Dojo 700 m in the air...which i would hardly describe it as a Palace as told to Ambrosia.

Most of his groups are Mafia, Security or Japanese Samurai related.....nothing there that shows any creativity or a having a Vendor spot anywhere.

It's my belief that this guy is a phoney!

Ignore his rude remarks. You said yourself that the press are understanding of your point of view - you never know. they may publish something saying what an idiot this guy is.
I agree with Rene. He sounds like a fake.
I think you handled it very well. You have a lot more patience than me lol, thats for sure. I would have ended up getting my popgun out and having a go lol.

Oh Ambrosia, sorry you've been subject to a *&!@!*$! like him!

Take heart in all the replies you've received - unfortunately you patience and tolerance has been stomped all over by this guy.

When you rent property you will find some people being more attention grabbing than others and you have to set a line up to where you will tolerate. If people go over the line then youhave to cut your losses and get rid.

Ensure you ban AND mute this guy and don't get drawn into any further discussions with him, move on and enjoy your SL life (which must come 2nd to RL by the way!)

Okay, the behaviour described by Ambrosia sounds so familiar to me that I'm venturing a wild guess ... say, could it be that the person in question has both 3 "d"s and 3 "y"s in his first name?

and I'm sorry that you have had such a nasty experience. I looked through your ban list - you have some real charmers (NOT!) on it.

I wouldn't do any deals with anyone: it's your land; your rules. Besides you don't want troublemakers in such a lovely, harmonious setting.
