Sorry, I am extremely angry. Logged in to SL and half the textures in my inventory are gone. Well over 100 that I spent 10L each to upload. Yes I waited an hour and they never loaded. Logged off, cleared my cache, came back and waited another hour. They seem to be quite gone. And I will not spend the Ls to upload them again. Why? so they can just evaporate again? So I am done spending Ls on anything; save rent, in SL till these inventory bugs are fixed. Which means I will no longer be spending anything in SL because it is quite apparent the only bugs the Lindens are interested in fixing are Voice bugs.
Out of curiosity just how many Ls have you lost in inventory evaporation? Yes that includes the no rez disappear from inventory items that merchants don't replace; I'm not saying all merchants don't replace these items but there are those that wont.

Are you sure your inventory is done loading?

Spending or not spending L$ doesn't affect LL that much since it's been established that they don't actually buy or sell L$ directly but rely on premium accounts and tier payments as income.
If you just stopped logging in then it would be a much more potent action than hanging out and not buying anything. They look at population numbers to guage their success.

What about that $4 I spend every week to buy Ls. If I'm not spending Ls I'm not buying Ls. I was at one time spending 300-500 Ls a day uploading textures.

From: Manstan Beaumont Well over 100 that I spent 10L each to upload. Yes I waited an hour and they never loaded. Well, I look at it this way.... 1000 x 10L = 1000L$ = 4 us$ (roughly) = 3 Euro (roughly again).... One glas of a good wine? Not even a package of cigarettes over here (and I don't smoke). What are we talking about.... So concerning money we talk about nothing. Morwen...

Is it possible that when inventory disappears, that it could eventually come back? I think that's happened to me briefly, but things return to normalcy. I'm not talking about going to your L&F...I mean, straight back to your inventory where it should be.

Sorry to ask... did you make backups of your uploaded textures? If you have a safe place where you can keep objects permanently rezzed, you can stuff the textures into boxes, label the boxes, and just leave them on the floor. It's helpful for organization, keeps the textures safe, and allows you to delete old textures from your inventory. Just a thought.

I can only hope. As many of these textures were meant to go into packs for sale; once I was done using them.
I have a few storage boxes, but those are usually for unused inventory item that I don't want to just delete. Although I will now be storing my textures on SL in someplace other then my inventory.

It's common knowledge that every now and then items in our inventory go out on holiday. It has something to do with the asset server..(?) My suggestion is have patience and wait for a while, your textures will eventually find their way home.

Your textures are out playing illicit Slingo and selling themselves to escorts...

That sucks and I'm really sorry to hear it. If the textures are used in things you built that you still have can you recover them from the objects somehow?

see'ya I don't think the money is the issue here...the time alone spent finding them and uploading them is worth much more.

From: Michael Bigwig I don't think the money is the issue here...the time alone spent finding them and uploading them is worth much more. I agree I disagree with someone who posted earlier that said that one persons impact by not spending $3 or $4 is pointless. Sure LL deals with big numbers, such as tier fees, but they also rely on a lot of smaller figures as well. Take Starbucks, for example. You might say that not spending my $4 on a latte is going to make an impact, but this is a global company based on $4 sales. If enough people stop making their puny $4 purchases you better believe they'll feel it. Doesn't mean I think you should leave. To me it depends on how frequently you've lost inventory items. You lost a lot of time spent and a little money. Does that outweigh the overall joy you are getting from SL? That's where you'll find your answer.

it would take an eternity to upload, label, and categorise 1000 textures. an amount of time worth far more than a packet of cigarettes. inv items often reappear after a random amount of time though. From: Morwen Bunin Well, I look at it this way....

Spending the energy uploading to get them correctly usable I would be very upset. But Again LLABS doesnt not give a ******** ***** anymore and why should they? Less and Less are paying users right? So why even bother giving Customer Service? They have Lindens Working for free. I doesnt understand why these days problems are so out of control? Why are pushing and pushing us to the point of breaking? There is not real signs of improvments, no signs of why people should keep paying for yearly memberships? No real reason to buy land. But give them a reason to keep free acount? Well LLAbs speakes out............They need numbers.........who gives a ***** ***** about stabilty or playabily or out of control under 18 years old kids and child molsters running around the game.........Taking gambing out and make one big *u***ng there.com hell is what LLABS is doing to us..........

I give two alts a full perms copy of everything I make, just in case.

From: Walker Moore A very good thought. I give two alts a full perms copy of everything I make, just in case. From what I understand, backup that way are useless. when you upload a texture, it is given a UUID number. There is only one file on the assets server for each texture uploaded in SL. What you have in inventory, what you give to other alts or AVs are just references to that UUID. So if the original file is lost on the asset server, then the UUID points at a lost file. I may be wrong, if anyone else has more precise info, please correct me.

He should have the textures on his home computer still. He should not have to remake them or consider them lost forever. It should just be a matter of finding and re-uploading them.

I don't find textures usually. I make 90% of my textures from scratch. If one of my texture builds goes beyond 4 nodes, I save the texture build; which is most of the time. So I can always rerender the texture. Oh, I use Genetica 2.5 pro, a seamless texture generator capable of photo real textures. But many of my textures have quite a lot of time put into them building the texture, plus the time to render them. If you figure time spent as an hourly wage, figure $30-50 per texture x 100+, it gives you a better idea of the lose. Ya, a bit closer to what some people make in a year. Just checked. They're back . Not when I first logged in, but once I opened my texture folder I watched it fill up; like stuff loading from a box. Looks like it's all there, and I'm going to sort, folder, and move them to a prim. Man that was scary.
