Does Greasemonkey show as an installed add-on?

Does BBCode in Text show as an active Greasemonkey script?

Do any other Greasemonkey scripts work?

Do you get any error messages?

Is there anyone worth reporting in the JavaScript console?

Is Javascript enabled in Firefox on the Vista machine?

You could try creating a blank profile and see if they work when installed there.

i do get one error, it says "missing } in XML expression"
i click the error to open it and this line is highlighted, Line 7
background-image:url('images/bg_unavail.gif');

all of that is on, i don't have any other greasemonkey scripts. when i "edit" the script it opens in notepad, but i don't know what to do from there

The IE7Pro script should be faster... it's a good solution to the problem (not perfect but good). My script is a bit overkill... but I tend towards overkill. I'll port the IE7Pro script to GM.

Should probably post this. Here's how to make this work on Safari (Mac version). Works fine for me with GreaseKit 1.5 and Safari 4. Also works with other WebKit-based Mac browsers, e.g. OmniWeb. It's a little fiddly to set up, but once it's done it's done.

1. Get and install SIMBL.

http://www.culater.net/software/SIMBL/SIMBL.php

2. Download GreaseKit.

http://code.google.com/p/greasekit/

3. Install it by drag and drop as described here:

http://8-p.info/greasekit/

4. You will want to quit and restart Safari at this point, check that GreaseKit is in the menu.

5. Get gm_functions. Go to this page and press the green install button.

http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/41441

6. Because of the way GreaseKit works, you will need to do a little fiddling.

-- Go into your home folder, then Library/Application Support/GreaseKit
-- rename gmfunctions.user.js as _gmfunctions.user.js (add the _ to the front).
-- open config.xml from the same folder in TextEdit.
---- look for where it says name= and change gm_functions to _gm_functions
---- look for where it says filename= and change gmfunctions.user.js to _gmfunctions.user.js

-- Save, you're done with the renaming gobbledygook.

6-1/2. Back in Safari, pick Reload All User Scripts from the GreaseKit menu, so that the funky rename stuff will register. (the renaming is to force gmfunctions to be loaded first, otherwise the provided hooks won't be available to others scripts)

7. Get Strife's script, Go here, and again do the green download button.

http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/9651

8. In the GreaseKit menu, make sure that both _gm_functions and BBCode in Text are checked.

9. Pick Manage Scripts... from the GreaseKit menu, click on BBCode in Text in the left column, press Add in the Include section. Double-click the gray bar that appears, and type (or hey, paste) in: http://forums.secondlife.com/*

10. If in the same box you also have a line for *, click that and press the Remove button so this thing doesn't try to work on other sites.

... and that should be that.

Anyone have any clues on how you would write a Greasemonkey script that will find your username, which comes after "Welcome, " and display it somewhere that is always visible, in particular visible when you are ready to post?

Windows XP, Firefox 3.0.1

I installed Greasemonkey 0.8.2090123.1, and it shows up in my list of Firefox Add-ons, and is Enabled.

Under options, BBCode in Text is listed, and I have the following in Included Pages

http://forums.secondlife.com/*

Yet, I still do not see urls, colors etc.

Can someone please advise what I have done wrong.

TIA

I have the same problem as Rock (but I have the URL spelled correctly). Greasemonkey is working fine on my desktop but not on laptop.
Tried disabling and re-enabling the add-on, no change.
Win XP, FF 3.0.11

Have I missed some option to activate it? Something in my FF settings I've overlooked?

ETA:
bbcodeintext is showing in scripts field.
http://forums.secondlife.com/* is showing in URL field.
Javascript and Java are enabled.
Version 0.8.20090123.1 downloaded from Mozilla site.

Nevermind, went to download from the links on page 1 of this thread, until finally found a version of bbcodeintext that works.

Which one Malia? Did you really confirm that some versions of the script work, and some don't?

Given that this post spans several years, is it still valid info? I often see lots of posts with urls, images, that do not display properly. Do I need to install this for them to work? Is that what it does? Pardon my ignorance; I don't know much about BB formating.

I've got Windows XP SP3, and I use Firefox. What should I do to get it to work properly in today's environment?

I've used this script since it first appeared. I'm running the latest Firefox, 3.5.1, and it works fine. All you should need to do is install Greasemonkey and install BBcode in Text from userscripts.org.

And for those too lazy to search (or just braindead like me), the direct url for bbcode in text is http://userscripts.org/scripts/source/9651.user.js.

Which is different from the one on the first page. XD

Edit: well, different from the supposedly updated one in post 5 of the first page, at any rate.
