Huge mainstore creators?

Okay I do not start many threads, but I need your help!

For my furniture store I am in need of a main store building, and I am not too inclined to do that myself. The build itself should be for 1/4 sim, and close to perfect :) Of course lots of floor space available. Modify as well, so I can make slight adaptions, or expand the building in the future. Size up to half a sim is good by the way.

So who are the best prefab builders for this segment? XStreet does not give too many good results either.

Edit: the huge is not about the creators you know :D

See, see, low prim furniture is a gateway drug to low prim malls!

Velouria Infinity has some awesome creations. I've bought several of them.
Sometimes it's better to have a few different buildings than one large boring.

Do a search for CORUSCUS DESIGN @ the Chumong sim.

The Raven 3 project will suit you well, i think.
Ok, it's 585 prims but if you want quality....
All the buildings are MOD/COPY.

Hope this will help.

@Argent: I don't really care if the building is low prim or not :D Got more prims then I need anyway.

@Yann: Found those on XStreet as well, and indeed very nice stuff!. The builds are a bit smallish for my needs, though MOD might mean they are easy to extend as well. It is not the first time I double a prefab in size :-) Thanks for the advices!

@All: more places?

Hey Marcel

This is the build I used for Shoe Fly -- I modded it up -- lengthened and then turned it into an L -- and added a second floor - I am on a 1/4 as well and I have a lot of space to fill.

Hi Marcel -

Check out CB Sodwind - they have very basic stores in all sizes. Not fussy and gaudy. If you're inworld, and can tp to my main store entrance....you will see a 3-story structure that I started with. It's mod, so I just scooted out the walls as I expanded, and added a roof......but then I took the roof off, so I could watch where people were teleporting on the map all day. That also made it easier for them to fly around.....and on a map view it looks like you have tons of product out...rather than them seeing just a black roof.

I may abandon 3 stories and walls all together, and go with an open market concept - - you can see that across the street from the main entrance. That's working really well.....they can see everything out in a glimpse....no exterior walls....no confinement.....no barriers.

You DO have tons of stuff out, a great selection. I like the open market concept. I regularly visit a couple places like that, and their patio outdoors stuff is seperate on a big parcel of it's own, seperate from the rest of the furniture but still outside. This is just from a consumer's point of view, lol, not that I know what I"m talking about build-wise. :p

Absolutely. We no more need walls and roofs in SL than we need fire codes and window bars.

Okay, my current store is set up like that and I wanted to move back into a store building. An open store though. But if I read this I might be wiser to just forget about a build and simply create a pretty open parcel!

Argent - I hate to take out the escalator, though.....Skell used to get his jollies on that.

Marcel - as a test....I took the same exact stuff I have on the second and third floor and set it out in the open market setting. It is selling from the open market, and not from the confinement of a small second or third floor. Not only is the openness easier for them to navigate....I think it takes away some distractions on the visuals.

When I watch on the map....they tend to browse more in the open market. When they are confined in the building....they tend to tp to another section of the store faster....which is not a bad thing....but I think the browsing every single corner, and walking through the entire display, rather than tping to another section, is more effective.

Hey Mickey,

The reason I am looking for a 1/4 sim store is because there is one thing I do not want: second floor! Everything must fit into 1 floor. So I want to start with 1/4, and expand to my needs. But there hardly are vendors with stores like I want, it seems :-) Maybe I simply stay in the open, still some time to decide as I will move the plants store first.

The great thing about an actual shop, is that it hides the acres upon acres of stuff scattered about for sale, which can be an eyesore for everyone else for miles.

Though a shop that is 15,000 square meters... that's not exactly going to be loved by the neighbours.

Perhaps make it a mountain on top or something?

think an open market could be fun. You could set some of your plants and make like outdoor garden add some of your furniture. Like a secret garden sort of but out in the open.

Isn't there a potential issue, though, when you first arrive at the sim and everything is in plain view, it's going to take longer to rez, since your viewer has a lot more textures to assimilate all at once, and the simulator is trying to deliver all of them at once to everyone as they arrive, than it would were stuff in separate rooms?

That was one of the things I took from http://analutetia.com/blog/anatomy-of-lag/, but I don't know how accurate it is (or if I misunderstood, which often happens).

One word: skybox.

Solves all your problems. You can rez a big mega prim with a low wall around it and scatter as much stuff around as you want.

Save the land level for places for your customers to relax.

You can occlude portions of the build without creating an enclosed store, using hills and rocks and intervening buildings.

when I went looking earlier on this year I couldn't find anything suitable. In the end I had to build my own, which didn't make me that happy since I'm not a structure builder.. :(

If you really don't want to build your own look for one where you can back to back it - most of the biggish ones are rectangular so with some modding you should be able to put two together and carve a walk though.

Okay I found a building I really do like, and probably going to buy too.

First let me tell you what I am planning to do. In total I have about 35000 sqm of land. That will all be used for my plants store, so the ground level will look awesome for the neighbors.

Maybe in time I will add a second level for plants, at 300 meters for example. Prims enough, I am prepared for the future.

At about 600 meters, I will create a platform of half a sim, where I have my furniture store. Half of that will be used for the store, the rest I will simply decorate. So no one is going to see the build from the ground. Nevertheless, I want it to be awesome looking!

Now look at this:
https://www.xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=1181899

All merchandise could be places on one level, but there is a second level available. Since I prefer to keep my erotic furniture separated from the rest of the store, I could use second floor for that, and use signs plus teleporters to alert customers to it. There will be teleporters all over the place anyway, I like to make things easy on my customers.

Now... tell me how you like this store :-)

Don't forget that people can fly... I hate having to use llMoveToTarget to get me through second-floor windows. :)

when I went looking the CC1 was the largest. The build quality was good but the layout didn't suit. This looks a magnitude nicer (and of course is bigger)

I've put this on my list for the day I move everything back to the mature mainland and resurrect all my other brands - which may be sometime after hell freezes over the way LL is going.

Who am I kidding... as if I could wait for comments before buying this :-)

@Argent: so you say that windows should best be phantom for flying users? The first floor, that is? Makes sense, though I do not want people to walk through windows either, most expect to not drop down 600 meters when making a wrong turn ;)

@Couldbe: The layout of many buildings is not too good, this one I loved though. Much space! I just rezzed it, and its super :-) Very happy here! You'll all get an invite for the opening ;)

Maybe it would be better to add a second floor entrance for people who land on what looks like the roof of the foyer in one of the pics. Could even put some patio chairs out there.
