yes there are some really great shows too..people are really making them exciting..some in the past were like accidentally flipping to the golf channel but now there are so many with flair to their shows.. i'll have to make sure i stop by yours..i love a good fashion show i also love your texturing on those shirts and the items i did see before i had to go..ripples and little details are things i love about the really good designers.. adding a feel of depth to the fabric..it makes me click my lil blue lindens button over and over hahahahah because really, good textures means they don't have to be anything but resized in photoshop although adding backgrounds can have a nice touch as well.. i made this one recently just playing around with photoshop and backgrounds using some really good products from other designers i love..it isn't my best blending or shadowing but i get in these moods at times rush to see something..it's still in the works myself i feel that we can even move adds out of sl and into other areas on the net.. none of the products were harmed in the making of this picture lol

wow really nice picture I do photoshop my ads but never the clothes, just the model (me lol) I will round off my shoulder (I have a really odd shoulder from some angles) or an elbow, and I use skin smoothing to make the model look good, I never touch the clothing tho Do people really add wrinkles and blend seams on ads? That amazes me.... omg those boots are awesome

That amazes me.... i've seen adds in some places that look like you walked into an art gallery..i wanted some of the adds for my wall lol i'll do a test buy in places like that and go home and try the item on..but if it is way off what it looks like then i won't risk buying there anymore.. in all fairness though some adds have been primped up and the product still not look the same but still had very nice textures to them.. i'll still spend there but then it drops from being the actual item to just my opinion..the next person may not think the same as me and feel they were taken advantage of.. i don't think there is anything wrong with getting rid of the jagged edges of an image..because that is just our video card or if we do something ourselves and we take out our lumps that may be in our shape..that don't change the product.. not unless you are selling shapes hehehe all in all i haven't really seen a lot of people manipulate with photo shop compared to the ones that show the product for what it really is.. the good designers just know they don't have to and the honest ones learning know theirs will get better over time

From: Ralektra Breda yea but where did you get the boots omg I could be wrong, but they look like the wrapped and strapped boots from the Bobbysocks Shoppe to me.* I actually got to model for a friend's shop a few times. She claimed having someone else to model for her gave her one less thing to mess with while she was adjusting the camera, but I sometimes suspected she used us for models because she liked sharing the clothes and the fun, and maybe for the company. I didn't find it boring, but I can see how some people would. It was pretty cool to walk around in the store and see myself in the product pictures afterward. There was one time she had a shoot with five outfits in each picture, and I can imagine it was easier to have extra avatars on hand for that than to set up five alts each time or photoshop them together later. That was a lot of fun, with all of us on hand. I can see how modeling would be a real thrill, but I can't begin to imagine how hard it must be to make a successful SL career of it! * Edit - that'll teach me to take so long to type. Ceka already answered. (But at least I was right about the tall boots... yeah, I love the Bobbysocks boots.)

Thanks Ceka, I am smiling (I did the stuff free hand, so yeah a lot more than just stretching to fit the template hehe) when I first started making clothing I did the photosource thing, but now, I just find it way better to do them freehand and watch what happens as for the pic, very cool! I have thought about a contest of sorts where folks would send me pics of something they bought from my store in use (ie an outfit being worn) done kinda like ceka did, artfully, not as an ad, and the best pics would be used in the store as decorative pics (model shots as it were) and the winners would get a shopping spree for them and a friend. (something like 2500L shopping spree for them and 1250L shopping spree for the friend) (my prices are all over the place so that is just an example, I would come up with 1st 2nd and 3rd places) the pics would go up to be voted on, so it would not be up to me who wins, but up to the general public there would be no fee to enter other than they must be wearing something they purchased from the store (not the dollarbie or freebie stuff, but the regular priced merchandise) do you guys think this would be something ppl might want to try?

i think those contests are great..and can be a lot of fun to see pictures people put up.. plus they are good for sales..pictures hung up in your store of your customers gives a warm feeling of being in touch with your customers too which i always think is good business =)
plus this is how some people actually get modeling jobs from people that may be in the business just looking around..
i could not tell you how many offers i got just from doing Bax Coens add..so it does help you and them i believe =) Edit: and some ever get offers to do photography.. i just think it is good for the people entering the contest and the store owner =)

I am sure they are configurable to allow votes without paying too

From: Rhaorth Antonelli aww honey what you do is a bit different the fashion shows make sense to have models but doing shoots for ads (imo) doesn't because of the fact that one can do it themselves without relying on someone being able to be there, etc ok, ty, now I feel better lol

From: Rhaorth Antonelli yep in that case I can see hiring someone who is already familiar with how to do a model show sometime in the new year I plan to have a fashion show (going through honeybear for that) and at that time I will hire some models who are familiar with the whole runway thing. Or if the agency supplies them I will use theirs. (Not sure yet how it works hehe) in those situations I can see hiring someone, cuz they are already familiar with it, and of course it looks professional AND you can sit back and watch the show hehe We provide the models, announcer and DJ, Rha, all you have to do is give us a description of the line and the clothes, then sit back and watch the show

We never photoshop our ads. Simply Print Screen add it to our standard background add the text and that's it. No touching of the pics.. Ova does all our vendor work and she says the same thing.. What you see is what you get. I don't recall ever hearing.. This doesn't look like the pic with one of our products.
/me thinks.. I dont' recall ever seein Ceka on my radar.. Pfttt lol j/k

you know, I have thought about it, and I don't recall ever hearing anyone say 'omg so and so is so FAKE blah blah'. I don't buy a lot of clothes, but of the ones I have bought I have never seen anyone photoshop in wrinkles and folds on the ad...if they can photoshop them into the ad, they can probably put them directly onto the clothing texture too. So I think that is definitely the exception and not the rule. Imagine if a well known designer did that...they would never live it down. I think there are some people who come and go quickly in SL who don't care about a reputation, and I wouldn't be surprised if they faked their ads. Rha has mentioned this type of thing a few times so I think she probably got burned at some point, and now might believe that a lot of people do it...but I tend to think not. Edit~removed a redundancy

From: Rhaorth Antonelli I often wonder the same thing, why would someone use another person for taking pics when they can have any look they want at their finger tips, PLUS know exactly what they want and such when doing the pics, AND not have to worry about someone being on time for a photoshoot or backing out at the last minute, etc I have used 2 different ppl in a couple ads, and even though they were a pleasure to work with, it is much easier just doing it myself People can make their own clothes , too. But many prefer to buy from others. Just as making the clothes take time, so does outfitting an avatar, creating the look, etc. Some prefer not to spend that time and avail themselves of the services of others.

for me it is simply a matter of convenience. I make the outfit, upload the textures, try it on, fix this or that and it's done...so I walk upstairs and take some pictures for the ad. No waiting for anyone, no doing it later, the outfit is done and I take the pictures, close SL and make my ad.

I guess I would have to look closer, but I still wonder how I would know really unless I bought the outfit and put it on. Oh well, I guess it takes all kinds, but IMO anyone who fakes their clothes on their ads wouldn't be around too long. and I guess too it would boil down to what exactly would be photoshopping limits, like what could you touch or not touch. Personally I try to make my ads look as professional as my limited experience would allow (using a template for the ads for example), I remove backgrounds and put my shots onto the template, round off an elbow or shoulder here and there, backlight or skin smooth to make the model look good...are these things I shouldn't be doing? I have always considered the ads to be an example of our artistry. I never do anything to the clothing but I do try to make the model and ad templates look good.

IMO I'd say if someone see's a "PERFECT" Avie in the pic.. as you say rounded elbows etc. one would assume that everything has been enhanced. But we know what we get when we Assume don't we?

From: Ralektra Breda I guess I would have to look closer, but I still wonder how I would know really unless I bought the outfit and put it on. I've seen it quite a bit and in some of the names that should know better. Most common example is tight skirts which are just a pants layer and a prim filler. They hardly ever fit right, seamless with texture etc. and i've seen some that are super smooth single piece. When I originally referred to post production and photoshop work, I only had in mind the putting on the background, border, template, lettering stuff, I wasn't even thinking of the touch up issues of the item, something which i'm very much against too.
