Openspace deals... scams or great?

I did check out Incircle club and mall, for an openspace sim I was pretty impressed. It was outstanding just how many prims they could go in, and have extra left.
Things did take extra time to rez but as a patient person I had no problem. The club was kind of busy too so I was impressed in that fact that it wasn't too laggy.

Very interesting.

Does anyone else have any examples of openspace sims like that I could check?

thanks

These have all been occupied from the moment of their inception, but I'm sure the residents won't mind so long as you don't go into any obviously private homes or skyboxes.

Caledon Lionsgate
Caledon Carntaigh (I have a picture of a party with 100 avatars in this one)
Caledon Primverness
Caledon Loch Avie

Caledon Sound
Caledon Speirling
Caledon Middlesea
Caledon Murdann

Caledon Cymru
Caledon Greystoke
Nova Civis Caledon (NCI in Caledon!)
Caledon Kintyre

Caledon Glamorgan (check out ths one for an example of how shops do)
Caledon Argylle
Caledon Cavendish
Caledon Oxbridge (something new, permanently public area - fairly heavy usage)

Caledon Westmoreland
Caledon Windemere (parcelled void with a few tenants on it)
Caledon Dundee (parcelled void with a few tenants on it)

Oh wow, thanks for the suggestions.

I won't invade privacy, just want to see how well it runs.

I'm seriously considering an openspace atm.

Well, following Des's example - all our sims except Fatimas Love, Fatimas Desire, and Fatimas Art are Openspace, so drop by and have a look at what we've done. Just search for 'Fatimas' on the map and you'll find us. Same restrictions as to occupied homes applies of course.

And before anyone thinks "wow, her next sim has to be called Fatimas Big Head" (it's happened :( ) I named the sims, not Fatima.

No worries, and I apologise if I came off tetchy - I get a lot of people thinking it's easy street and poking me for supposedly making high returns for no effort.

I was wondering if I was too conservatively paranoid for a couple years there, but the land market of the last few months convinced me otherwise.

I have yet to have anyone poke me (lol - I wish!) but I have learnt a number of lessons from Des - please excuse the fanboi speech for a moment! Keeping a tier reserve is CRUCIAL; not expecting to live high off the hog and retire to Florida at 35 is CRUCIAL; not thinking that you can just rent/lease a plot and all your work is done is CRUCIAL. There are any number of other lessons.....

Our main one is not to rely on the land/rental market too much - Fatima and I have a few separate business ventures that provide a fallback for when times are lean in that area.

On the issue of transferring L$ to RL - I'm in the UK and have to pay 40% income tax on my earnings from SL should I ever cash out. Clearly it's not really worth it for me to do so, so I have a reasonable US$ balance as tier reserve - 3 months as a minimum is my bottom line, which I have been nowhere near for some time as I am in profit from all my activities each month (including the 17.5% VAT I'm charged as well). My pricing is slightly different to Des', but I will say that as much as I love SL, there is NO WAY I would ever consider this as an alternative to RL working for a living - there is just no comparison in terms of effort expended vs. income gained.

That said, if I could invent a new item of furniture with the sexxies included, all bets are off!

For what it's worth, I'd call Incanus 'one of the good guys' - a gentleman competitor if ever there was one.

grin... thanks... I guess you saw the creator tags, the overall design and connected the dots... but NCI and Carl Metropolitan is the real magic sauce for that one. I'll be staying fairly low key about that project until it is finished and fully operational.

Not sure if I have already commented on this particular OS thread already or not, but the whole thing isn't worth the debate. Some people prefer better performance, some people prefer more space and privacy for the price and don't mind giving up a little performance for that. If either or is not for you that's just fine. But good god let the topic go. It's not worth a debate. It's two separate products that have two separate types of buyers.
