So. . .how should I handle this?

About three and a half years ago, I touched down on a sim on the eastern shore of the largest lake in SL. Watched the sun go down and bought the 3k worth of property I was standing on in a heartbeat. Since then I've bought as much of it as I could afford. Which, for the longest time, was everything that came up for sale. At one time, I owned 75% of everything that didn't belong to governor Linden. I sweated over auctions where I knew I was up against land cutters. Bought land and cleaned it up. Shared it with friends.

This past year in these troubled times I had to give up most of what I owned. I tried to keep it among friends, but I knew that once I sold the land I'd lose control of it. I can't blame my friends for selling and moving off over time.

Now, someone has bought a section of the sim, and, having decided he doesn't like my landscaping, has begun a concerted campaign of harrassment and abuse of sim resources to get me to sell out.

Any suggestions?

Are they doing anything AR-worthy?

Possible solutions:
- make friends with the jerk
- harrass back
- AR and pray
- sell for big L$ and move
- ignore them

edit: and check their born date. If they're newbies, they'll likely move on before too long..

If they want to pay less than you want to sell for, then I'd AR them for abuse of sim resources, harassment, and whatever else comes to mind. Then I'd wait 'em out.

I'd probably start replacing objects on my land with uglier alternatives for now, to make their Second Life less pleasant while not doing anything AR-worthy myself.

When he told me it was his intention to buy me out I said "Fine. $3k USD firm. He told me he'd buy the land at twice that price. So I set it that way, direct to him. So far, he no longer seems interested.

As for AR'ing. His last effort was to set up a sploder and invite a couple dozen of his friends. No club or anything. Just a sploder with a bunch of people hanging around. He managed to get the sim down to double digits before they started tping away. Maybe he called them off.

I think I'm mostly just going to continue to ignore him.

Let Jig live on your land for awhile. That'll drive him off.

I can set up the redneck trailer near the property line, and I've got a few alts that need a crash pad for a few weeks. One is a wee bit obnoxious.

Similar story of how I ended up at my land on Cosmet. Bought my first 512 there shortly after starting SL and have been buying bits and pieces there ever since. I have seen my share of idiot neighbors and have had some wonderful ones as well. If you truly enjoy your land then hold out, in time they will move on.

And really loud farm animals on the border to his land lol, or how about a weather system that really pours it on, set it for when ya leave for the day so that it dont effect you I had some people do that to me before, move in and then try and be overly a**holeish to get me to leave. I just put up warning signs on my property lines that anyone stepping on my grounds is accepting that they will be blown to smitherines lol it was great fun until they left lol

And get Sindy to fix you up with some of her wandering sheeps.

My personal dislikes would be 50 meter high glowing mega prims butted right up against the border...as well as continual sploder, shouting, and sion chickens draining the sim resources.

(Then again my neighbor has no idea how stubborn I can be. On principle.)

Maybe buy a plot somewhere else in the meantime, for chill time, til lunkhead finally moves out.

you could always find a nice expensive plot somewhere else you like, double the price and offer up yours for sale at that number.... then you make a profit for the effort of moving your stuff, and get land you'll like better.

There's no other plot quite like this one.

Original sim. Westward facing on the largest (totally--No groups with the power to eject you when there's a race going on.) public access lake on the grid. Fully completed road. And it's clean. There's only one 16m plot on the whole sim, and it's under water. (one of Blue Buttons)

There is only one sim on the grid that I like better. It's right next door to me and it happens to be up for sale, but I can't afford it OR the tier. (Which is the only reason he got a chance to buy in anyway.) The Lindens just don't make land like this any more.

I should probably host some hangout parties.
