Rhaorth, I want to thank you for this question. I didn't think to ask, myself, but now I have an answer to an problem that was becoming an issue :) Thank you!

HippoGroups sound so wonderful!

you are welcome

so far I like the hippo group, took a little while to set it all up, but that time also included a new texture, which I noticed I had a misspelled word and had to reupload LOL, and migrating (one at a time via copy paste) 404 people

dang subscribe o matic doesn't have an export option (or if they do I am too blind to see it)

thanks cristalle I got the silver plan
sending out my first hippo system group msg now... hopefully I did it right

whew that was a lot of folks to move over

as for the visitor thing

not sure what is wrong, it just doesn't seem to want to communicate with the hud hub thing and the prim that detects people

I tried walking through it and nothing happened

:(

So I tried the communicate test thing, and only one thing would reply (usually the hud hub, only once did the hud respond and at that time the hud hub did not respond)

scripts are on, it is my own land, passwords are the same in the 2 things that require them (did not change password, then tried changing it, and either way it just doesn't seem to want to work)

Make sure the password in the hud matches the password in the hub.

As for the sensor, did you set it up to ignore you or other managers?

passwords match

*slaps forehead*

yep I was missing the obvious... TY

your comment made me take another look! I think I found it

yep got it working

TY TY TY!!

Just to be sure, Rha, the land is script enabled, right? Even for group?

Just a reference... http://www.hippo-technologies.co.uk/resources/hippovisit/hippovisit.php

I found my error it was the ignore self and manager thing

I missed that

that is what I get for trying to do a dozen things at once

Rha, Now that it has been a few weeks, how do you like the system in comparison to Subscribe O Matic? I've got to make a decision on a system soon, and I'd love to hear how you view those two now that you've had experience with both.

I'd like to chime in that Subscribe o matic has just dropped their prices.

From their website: Despite that, we believe there is still a lot of room for improvement, both in terms of functionality, and affordability. With this in mind, we are making Subscribe-O-Matic completely free for all groups with up to 500 members.

This was wonderful news for me, since I am only up to 350 members now. So if you didnt look at SOM before because the price tag was too hefty, give it another look! :)

Consumer point of view:

The one thing that I love about the Hippo system that Rha went to is the website tie in. I can check for notices that I might have missed and request redelivery of any items that did not come thru without having to actually visit every freakin store. Not to mention that I do not think I even remember all of the stores that I have subscribed to their Subscribe-o-Matic system.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the hippo system
the ease of use and website usability is awesome

I use it for my store group, which folks click the sign to join, and I created a second group to use as a mailing list for those who joined the hunt, letting them know that they would be added to the list

and for both situations it is perfect
I would not have been able to do that with the SOM

I like SOM, and they blazed the trail for the rest to follow and improve upon

as for the free 500 size group...well that would not work for me now, I am already at 449 on the store group

I would recommend the Hippo over the SOM, unless you have a really small sized group with no expectation of it getting any bigger, and if you only ever plan to have the one group

OH!! Thank you for reminding me, I forgot to make the notes to the hunt participants as re deliverable, so I just popped on just now (yes that fast) and made them so they can be redelivered.

I just hope they know they can check the website and redeliver that way hehe

This does have the problem that you have to leave your PC on all the time you want it working, which is a bit awkward..

I f you configure it correctly it will store the names until the BOT is relogged to SL then people get the invites so no you do not have to be connected to SL all of the time :)

I use Hippo Groups too, and love it... in fact I love all of their products :) Easy to set up. and being able to manage all online is a big bonus both for store ower & consumer.

Have even set up a couple of fun groups for friends only, so I can send a group message to people when Conference IMs are borked!
