Hi, I find myself lately having a hard time just finding new folks to chat with, or finding places that have legitimate avi's there that are not camping, and will engage in normal conversation. Lets hear from others, where the best places you've found just to hang out and talk, or meet new people.

It depends on what your interests are. I have found that most people hang out in places that reflect their personalities. If you are really into shopping, try some of the big shops. I know I have met quite a few nice people shopping for hair at Gurl 6 which is one of my favorite hair shops. But of course just because you like the same kind of hair doesn't mean you'll have much else in common. (lol) A lot of places that have had interesting people who like to have mature converstation were found purely by accident while exploring. I was exploring a new sim not too long ago and heard voices and found several folks sitting in a large teepee. They were from different countries and all had various accents. I learned a lot about their various countries through the hour or so I spent chatting with them. Sometimes you just have to explore and strike up a converstation or not be too timid to join in on one already in progress (minding manners of course ) ~Maddy

Yes, but this is such an incestuous bunch She needs to meet OTHER people too! Try the Inspire Space Park (force sun to midnight!), or any number of coffee shops. Open Latte is a good one that my sweetie goes to from time to time.

I know search isn't all that great right now, but when I started, I went to Places, typed in a keyword of interest to me, and just started hitting the places that came up. It's all about the exploring.

In addition to the above suggestions, you could also search for things that interest you in groups. Or try searching for pubs, bars (Taff´s comes to mind, very friendly place, great owners and live music regularly), beaches and the like. Coffee shops are also a good one. And of course as Claire said.... the live music scene is full of friendly people. One fun aspect of it is that you can have a great conversation and laugh, while listening to cool music and dancing. If you want some tips on the live music scene, let me know, I´ve got a couple of notecards with suggestions I can send you. /me waves at Claire, fun eh? .... not sure whether you did hang around for the impromptu gig, but what an amazing night!

Also it's been suggested that you could throw out a group IM to see if anyone fancies coming along. @Claire : yep that song.... it's one of his originals. He sang several more plus a couple of covers.

Im usually there sometime between 10am and 2pm (ish) SLT. Depends on RL and stuff in SL (e.g. Live music lol) Yes I know...I need to get out more, but the number of people who arrive while i am sat listening and playing with my inventory, who have said that no-one is ever there when they try is silly. I kinda think, maybe I could say hi, make their day a bit brighter, you know? Give them some Happy-Go-Lucky Claire Cheer. @Sally Oh well thats a shame, i will have to look out if he is doing a gig sometime soon.

From: Sally Silvera Alyssa, one way to figure out whether there's anyone there is to check the landmark on the map. Also it's been suggested that you could throw out a group IM to see if anyone fancies coming along. For one reason or another, there are some times the hangout is deserted. Not usually for long, mind. Get Chris or Brenda to add you to the group if not already and IM. There's often a good chat gets going even if all participants don't actually go there. Taff's I usually propose but Sally beat me to it. /me waves Glad to say Mons is up and running again. Inspire I second ... it was *this* thread wasn't it?

I've made the hangout my second home While out exploring, I'll pop in there momentarily to get away from lag, or to see what Claire is wearing, rez something (uh sorry for leaving that box sitting around there so long) or a quick change of wardrobe. A soak in the hot tub is nice, too For other hangouts, I'll ditto the live music although someone made my ears bleed yesterday. I find the last place to meet people who want to TALK are the clubs!
