Ooh- I love a good de-railment, and this one has great possibility! In fairness to the poor abused OP, can we either give this one it's own thread or take over to the Immortal Thread? I think several folks would love to discuss this further - I know I would love to read others' views on this and toss in my .02 Lindens worth. go for it, I may respond shortly. Definitely check your sound and video drivers. Those buggers seem to affect some of the strangest things, including uploading textures. I couldn't upload textures one day, a couple of years ago and when I got on Live Help, a Linden suggested updating the video drivers. I did.. it worked. Color me puzzled at why, but it did.
And as one person suggested, uninstall the program, delete the settings folder and go from there. _____________________

AFter all the usual checks (the tech aspects people mention above), I think just shrugging when SL is being annoying and finding something else to do for a while is always a good option.
Can't build, go explore. Can't TP, engage group and private chat. Can't use IMs, scope out some profile's and searches for needful things (for when you can TP). Search down, voice or open chat with those green dots nearby. No voice or no ability to engage in chat with nearby people, try shopping on SLX or in world. SLX, vendors down or no transactions possible, there's always... dun dun dun... Real Life. There's always options. _____________________

I used to pay for my SL account. Never again! So, of course I can't complain to the Lindens. I'm thinking they've done it all on purpose because I don't pay. I don't pay, I don't have any of these problems. I think that it is a personal attack on only you. You have clearly upset the Lindens. This rant does not serve to improve your situation. My top five reasons, in no particular order.
5. old broken stuff Not only my own personal gripes about old Linden content, but stuff like the poor avatar mesh, ground textures that change with every login, and linden trees that once looked great, but now look horrible. 4. Hooooooooooo! 3. Spinny ads I'm glad that some actions have been taken. I jes wish more could be done about these things! 2. Borked hugs I wish they'd fix that. Meike Heston has a great Havok 4 compatible hug interface (Hug & Kiss Animator 1.2)! Maybe it can work for you, Marianne.
But yeah... the old hug is not nice any more... it makes people look like their pixel bumping -- for reals! LOL _____________________

A lot of the time SL get blamed for issues in your side of the connection. For the longest time I kept getting client disconnects, sometimes every ten minutes. Everything else worked fine... i tried everything but the one thing that actually fixed it was replacing my router with a newer one. Now I crash occasionally due to crashes in my video card driver. Granted, in both of these cases LL could make SL more reliable... but the issues were/are in my side.
SL does go flaky once in a while.. I got the tp issue the other day but it went away after a while. I also ended up ruthed for a whole night after the asset server thing. I figure those are symptoms of trying to re-build the plane while flying it. They do need to improve their testing and validation before they deploy a new release. On the other hand that is a trade off between how long to take to deploy a fix and how to make sure it won't break something new. .d _____________________

Thanks for the practical suggestions. I have tried them all, reinstalling the client, using a cable instead of wireless, etc. BTW, I can Build, I just can't import textures and other images.
