Are there pets who stay on your land?

I am not talking about human pets.

Are there any animated pets that stay on your land and do not return back to your inventory when you log off?

I'd like to have a few cats that will stay on my land roam around.

Thanks,
Jez

BTW where did you get it?

I have a squirrel that hangs out there. He runs around in circles and eats acorns...

I have a puppy who stays put for awhile, then eventually wanders "off world" and returns to my inventory. Sometimes he will stay in my yard for days before running away, other times he'll run off immediately. One time my neighbor sent me a picture of him walking through her living room...I've put up a little fence for him now, but he still gets out. I believe I got him at a place called SL Pals.

i have squirrels, a mouse, an eagle, tortoises, parrots, swans and a mother duck and her chicks. they are all animated and are there all the time whether i am there or not.

the only problem ones are the parrots. every once in a while they fly away ... REALLY AWAY ... sometime as far as 6 sims away ... and are returned to me because they "went off world".

edit> will have to go in-world to see where i got them all. tho i know the squirrels and rat (not mouse, sorry) are from second wildlife ... and the tortoises are from splash aquatics. i have some geese from splash too tho the are not "out".

My neighbor has the most fabulous horses that stand around neighing occasionally, twitching to get rid of flies, shifting from leg to leg. Let me know if want to know where to get them. I also saw a new product release in the forums last week for similar deer.

This is a script issue. A better written script will not just move the object around. Instead, it will calculate a place to move to, and then check to see if it is a safe place or not...that is, not off world, not on no-script land, not on that awful neighbor's property, etc.

Some scripts are limited to how far they will go from a start point. You can control those by starting them in the middle of your property.

Try looking in the pets Content tab for configuration information.

true. tho i understand my parrots do check. i see them hovering at the sim boundary and then seem to decide to come back. tho every great once in a while, it's a parrot that goes amuck.

i think they just rebel and leave. i also think they're afraid of the eagle.

I'm constantly having my kennel dog run off. It got so danged annoying getting that message from them saying "Come to our lost and found and pick up your australian shephard"

I renamed ner "Lucyfur" cause only an evil dog can get lose out of a skybox and end up lost. And I stopped rezzing her. Incredibly dissapointing since heck theyre expensive!

I have four dogs from the Virtual Kennel Club, they have a place at Turing Isle & also one in Caledon somewhere. They can stay either on the parcel they're left on or within a set distance, they're also constantly running around doing different things, most realistic dogs in sl. I do have two cats from Zooby's & I think they will also stay where left, not 100% on that though but I think they do

I have a pink bunny rabbit that hangs around the main courtyard of my place he's been there since about March or so. He wasnt very expensive so if he goes poof I will get another one or maybe make one by then. I'm busy building what amounts to a kennel at another location I have which will house a dog that I wont be taking up and hopefully I wont be loosing him, but if i do the dog i bought has a lost and found pount that I can go get another one of him at if that happens (or something like that).

I just put up the wire fence and gates the other day and will be making a little dog house etc. and getting or making some signage. This area is behind a garage I built on a private sim so i thought a guard dog would be appropriate :)

I know the competition that will come along someday is learning from LL's mistakes. But do they have to make so many?

My RL dogs are worse :p

We have a 3 foot high split rail, a one foot extension of Rabbit wire. And STILL if we dont have the electric fence on they will get out.

The female the worst she will literally run up, and climb right over the fence without even slowing down.

Shes only 50 pounds, a medium sized dog .. LOL

I wish shed return t inventory instead of rooting through the neighbor's flowerbeds.

jezabell, if you do go to splash to get a tortoise ... they are NOT up in the vendors. they are in the ponds you pass before you go up the stairs to those vendors. you can buy the ones in the water swimming around.

unless of course, he's changed things around. it's been a while since i've been there.

I have a couple seagulls that fly over my home constantly. The rest of my 'livestock', like my AKK riiding horse, my daughter's terrier, and a silly crab that scuttles around on my beach, we usually take up when we are not around. No reason to waste the prim count if no one is enjoying them. And the AKK horse takes a lot of prims if I just leave him standing in the stable, where he uses none at all when I am actively riding him. (The horse is a wearable 'vehicle')

... and if you have prims to spare .. you can set the squirrels to scatter acorns across the landscape. tho at 3 prims each they do add up quickly.

i have 4 squirrels and only set 1 to scatter his nuts around.

I got some great free swimming fish from Supa Shang. I love mine and have nothing but praise for them.

... and they have NEVER strayed, not even once. :p

(The store's displays are rather crowded with fish and other creatures. If you'd like to see just a few in action to get a feel for their behavior, feel free to visit my home, listed in my profile picks. There are three tropical fish swimming around just south of my underwater cabin.)

Forgot about fish! I used to have 20 or more, ranging from small tropical fish to a dolphin. I should put a few out again, now that I have moved to a new sim and have my own beach again.
