...or at least the payment will.
Land which is deeded to a group, then sold, doesn't pay out the money immediately. Instead, it is paid the next morning (about midnight - 6am PST). Also, it will pay out to everyone in the group who has the Role permission to Make/Receive Group Payments. _____________________

Change role abilities so that no one but you profits from land sales. (Just uncheck it for everyone else.)
Group/Info/Roles, *I think.* (Removing everyone else also works, but explain to them why.) _____________________

No joke

That is the way group deeded land is handled...
There is no way to get the money processed early, group deeded land always pays out the next morning. I think it may be for some technical reason, of course it could just be to provide some time to make Role adjustments in case they weren't set right when the land was sold. Edit: Oh.. and anyone in the "Owner" role always has all permissions. So, all Owners would get a share of the profits. _____________________

If the land has already sold, then you will be reliant upon your friends' honesty. Send them all a note card explaining the situation. Ask them to check transaction history and to refund any money paid to them recently due to the land sale.
The money will take a day or sometimes two to show up anyway. _____________________

your kidding me right No, and they should make that role priv a bit clearer as it is not always obvious to people. The reverse is true for that priv too: several times I have discovered a group gave me that priv in an attempt to give me as much power as possible in the group. Which would have meant my paying if they decided to list their land in search. _____________________

I think all pay/earn should be NOT checked by default in group roles. A lot of people do not realize they might be charging members or might be giving members a chunk of their land sales.
In instances like this where it's done to do someone a favor, they aren't thinking of money, so it isn't as obvious as it might seem to look for something like that. Especially for first-time land owners. _____________________

It is/isn't, sort of

It all depends on the role.. Owners always have all permissions, while the Everybody role only has a few things on by default.. Make/Receive payments is unchecked for Everybody by default.

When an ex landlord sold land, I got some money and did not even know it. Once they told me, I refunded it, of course.

Probably..
12-28-2009 08:43
Imogen, the best way to find out who's set to get a payment is to go check the Group Roles settings, per role.
Although, if you only have the Owner and Everybody roles being used in the group, and have not changed any Role settings, then the only people to get it would be the Owners. If you are the only Owner in the group, then you will be the only one to get the payout (again, assuming you hadn't changed any Role permissions (or another Owner, if there are any)). I hope this has all helped.. i'm off to go to work now though. (and remember, if it's not set how you want it to be, you have until tonight to change it) Edit: Ciaran, really? i thought it was always unchecked for the Everybody role? Probably worth checking, Imogen... just in case. _____________________

would co-owners get it? Yes. Unless you took out that ability. Go in and change it now. It may still work. |

I often wonder why the ones like this, which should be pretty easy to fix, drag on for years. _____________________

I learned the lesson about selling deeded land when I was the purchaser. The seller kept saying I did not pay him for the land. After submitting proof of the transaction, he realized group members received monies. He had to track them down for "payment". I never found out if he got it or not. None of my business anyway. But I learned a very important lesson.

LL assumes that any group-owned land or items are run like a hippie co-op, where everyone gets equal shares of any profits, and everyone pays an equal share of any liabilities. Hence the "Pay Liabilities" role IS checked by default in the Everyone role.
Un-check that role permission for every role except Owner, right now, and you, as group owner, will be the only person to get paid out to tomorrow for that land sale. Otherwise, if there are 100 people in the group, and you didn't change that "Pay Liabilities" role, then each group member gets an equal share of the sale land proceeds. Sold the land for L$50,000, and there's 100 members? You each get L$500 from the sale. 10 in the group? You each get L$5,000. _____________________
Sorry, LL won't let me tell you where I sell my textures and where I offer my services as a sim builder. Ask me in-world.
