funny thing happened in my house tonight

I have a little rented house in a private estate, a rental in that I don't have access to the land menus etc. There isn't any security, I have no problem with anyone dropping by, no one ever does anyway, but tonight has made me think!

I was dancing in a club then decided to go and check out Avilion after reading about it in another thread somewhere. So I swung by my house on the way to put on some suitably medieval attire. As I was getting dressed I saw in chat someone obviously in intimate chat with someone, which I thought was odd as the houses are some distance apart so you can't hear chat. Checked Mysti, and there are 2 avies 1m away! (directly above, it looks like.)
SO I said "Excuse me, you're in my house!" The woman said "There's no one here, there is no tenant here at the moment." (This freaks me out a bit, makes me think she's used this house before)
So I said "I'd appreciate it if you'd get out of my house." The guy calls out "You're the tenant?" I then went upstairs and found him all alone with his dick out..she'd disappeared and left him there.
He was completely mortified and was full of apologies - apparently they had been at his house, and then she said "Hey, let's go to my place." So he really thought they were at her house.

Once I'd got over the shock, I found it pretty funny and was joking to him that I needed to clean my sheets now. ANd of course I have spoken to my landlord who has now set the area to group only so it won't happen again.

So you left him standing there with his wooden penis hanging out? Didn't even offer to help him finish up after the other lady left him blue balled? Some kind of hostess you are.

Things like that happen all the time. I had been renting for a week when two guys suddenly popped into my rental and one of them started demanding that I get out of his place. He was mortified when I pointed out that he obviously lapsed on paying rent and that I had moved in. Some people just seem to have no sense of time. I wonder how their RL checkbooks look.

I know, I wish they had those here Cristalle! Might have to badger the landlord about it.

i been thinking about this recently. it seems very odd for people to crash parcels that are obviously someone's private residence. i guess if you are new to Second Life or broke i could understand. but im catching all kinds of people at my house since i moved in and they arent interested in any of the other parcels in my sim.

they are treating my home like a public park to bring their dates and they are really well dressed. which makes me think maybe lindens isnt the problem. maybe the thrill of getting caught or ? i wish i could figure out why so many people are showing up at my place. maybe because its near a very high traffic sim?

im also not really sure what to do about it. i welcome people to visit but if this continues i wont have one moment of privacy.

That is probably it. On the same sim is a very popular club so maybe it is traffic related.

I think there's both. There's the intruders who think that an empty house is open and available for anyone to use and there's those who have old landmarks. I have dealt with the intruders when my old home was near a club and I've dealt with the landmarks when renting spaces.

I have a friend who bought land and placed a large home on an island. The island had previously been a very popular hangout but changed hands when the original owner decided to leave SL. The old landing point was directly where my friends new house now sits. He consistently would find very confused avs suddenly standing in his home. He thought it was funny and would strike up conversations and explain what happened. I don't think I would have been so patient after a day or two of that.

OMG,

My very first place I was renting LOL. I was out having a good time and my real life friend IMd me and said Bec someone is in your bed, get home quick.

I got home and yup he said what are you doing here I said its my place what are you ummm doing here lol. The guy left and left the lady there.

I was mortified to begin with of course but we talked to the lady and she was all apologetic, and it wasnt really her fault. So it was nice in a way I met a new friend.

Next day talked to the landlord and he just said hey it happens, dont worry about it. I moved soon after. No worries I own my own land now and like I said all is good :)

And yes I get a few wandering souls but figure they are new or just disoriented.

So in a nutshell it does happen yes it is unsettling. But in the end you might make a friend or learn something.

Are your homes anywhere near the 128,128 map coordinates for the sim? That is the default landing point when someone clicks a sim on the map and teleports there.

I made the mistake of placing one of my rental homes such that the living room was right on 128,128. Needless to say, my tenants had lots of unexpected company for a while.

I live in a PG sim so this never happens to me. If it did, I think I'd just laugh about it and feel good about other people enjoying my build. That's what it's all about for me. I doubt I would even disturb them. I can always change clothes without a dressing room.

Of course that's facile for me to say when it's not happening to me.

One of my friends sets up very nice houses, lovely settings/sits,
has a great eye for the details & all the little things.
She was showing me a rm she had done up and paused for a sec asking me to come w/ her. We go down the hall and there is some guy standing on her bed.
She had froze them, while telling them it was rude yada yada to be there as they were.
She's nicer then me.
Anyways, I said that was weird, she said no,
ppls came to her house pawning it off to newbs impressing them that it was theirs and the new ppls didn't have the exp to know otherwise :o
It makes sense some ppls would do that, just had never seen before, she should write a book about SL!

i just moved to a private sim not on the mainland and the sim is surrounded by water. and the entire sim is private residences with no clubs. but there is a very popular club in a sim near the one i live. so i guess people are just exploring and seeing my place, thinking its a park and deciding to hang out. they are using my stuff too. sitting romantically at my waterfall . . on the benches near my pond . . i came home yesterday and found my fridge door standing wide open. raided my fridge! giggles . .im not upset or anything im just kinda thinking why me.

I have a friend that uses my place. She came home and found a couple using the bed. She asked them to leave and they just ignored her. So I had to come and ban them. I also go home alot and find the poseballs on the beds have been activated. So as near as I can figure, I still have alot of guests or my Av is having a really good time when I not online. :)

When I rented out skyboxes, I found a couple hard at it on the bed in the showbox. They got up when I arrived and they asked about renting a skybox. I didn't have a vacant one at the time, but I told them to carry on and use the bed. They did, and left 30 minutes later. A week later they rented a skybox :)

One day I found a couple in my bed, I told them to have fun and enjoy the place. Nice to know the 54 position sex bed is getting some use when I'm not home. I can always tell when they have been there, they leave the TV set on the porn movie channel!

there is the third kind as well, those who do what the ops, umm "roommate" do, use another's home/parcel for rendevous with other avas, and pretty much don't care that its your home. had a lot of that until we just did as the ops landlord did. and yes its only funny for about a day.

The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

this is why it is always good to have you sex stuff in a sky box ..

That way when you catch them using it, its a LONG way falling down after you eject and ban their naked butts.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.
