Used to be when you click on appearance, your avatar would turn 180 degrees (facing the camera) and spread their arms a little. Now, I turn about 90 degrees and end up with one leg slightly bent with my hands at my side. When I close appearance, *then* I go into the 180 degree arms-spread pose, then spin back around away from the camera. And assuming one agrees with me that maneuvering yourself around is a snap, why is this a problem? (if you don't agree with me, then I'll accept that as the problem -- to each his own) On top of all that, everytime I adjust something, I check it out from all angles before I leave appearance mode. So I couldn't care less what angle I start out in. I'm seriously not trying to argue with all of you, but I'm wondering if a programmer somewhere thinks like me, and would never try to fix it, because he or she doesn't see it as a problem. --Avion "Do these pants make my butt look big?" Raymaker For someone who is new, they might not understand what "shear up" "eye pop" or "jowls" are unless they see the preview... which they can't, because they are looking at the back side of their head. The only place this doesn't matter is when fixing your butt size. This place is already un-user friendly in many ways. We don't need to make it harder. |

I wouldn't have noticed this because I was done with my facial features about 5 days after I was born, and really never looked at them again. I must have created my alt before this problem came about, too. Tonight I'll go check my jowls and see what you all are on about! |

https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-2030 Avatar only turns half-way in Appearance Mode
I just voted.. since some weeks I also have this problem of turning half way and for half a year the preview stopped working. Haven't found the preview issue in Jira, maybe I should report it. |

Haven't found the preview issue in Jira, maybe I should report it. I've just voted for this one too - I'm astonished it is unassigned - it is easy enough to move the camera around the avatar, you usually want to do that anyway, but the incorrect preview windows are a real pain, so I added a comment about it in the hope that a complete view of the appearance functionality is taken, rather than a silo mentality about "the bug as reported". _____________________

Voted on it too. It's annoying, but not a show stopper, thankfully.

I voted on the meta-issue - there are a host of weird avatar problems. Eye textures going berserk, etc.

I am kinda new so maybe other new folks will need to hear this. In the Edit Appearance window, you get the little cursor to zoom in on your avie.
This seemed to work/not work at random, causing me great frustration until I finally figured it out... You have to click *ON* your avie to move the camera around while in this mode, not anywhere else on screen. Click on the body part you want to zoom in on. Hope this helps someone else who is new like me... ![]() |

I have this problem too along with a most annoying one but I think this is suppose to happen and not a bug issue but a rude issue lmao..when someone around me is talking my avi seems to move its head over that way as to look as tho I am ease dropping on their conversation...I hate this and feel it is funny but at the same time very rude LOL!

Torley Linden has commented that he sees the same problem, even with no AO's attached. _____________________

This is annoying enough to me that I just voted to fix it. In fact it was nice when it was fixed for about a day. It's not just that you have to move the camera around it's also that the pose is odd.

Sheena, why on Linden's Green Pixels would you think this is rude? You look all you want. (Or, I guess, look all you don't want). If they don't want you to hear, they'll talk in IM. |

I'm used to having my av turn her back on me in Appearance mode. But last night, she did an Exorcist imitation and turned her head around backwards.
Ewwwwww. _____________________

Resolved!
09-19-2007 11:39
For me this issue is resolved with the download of the optional version 1.18.3.4 from http://secondlife.com/community/downloads-optional.php
- I now fully turn around instead of half way in appearance mode - Focus is on front instead of back - Preview pictures work again Also another issue I had is resolved: I was unable to invite new members to my group because I couldn't click the select button (was greyed out). Now I can! |

Ehmmmm, I have been able to turn totally once or twice, now it's the same old story of turning half way. Previews still work but what's the use if you want to tweak your face and previews show the back of your head...

I'm nearly always looking at myself from the front when I click appearance. So the normal behavior turns me away such that I'm looking from behind.
Why can't we have an option to just plain not move the camera at all when we enter appearance. _____________________

I did a custom shape for someone this weekend and ran into this. It used to be that after a while it would start working correctly, but I was at it for well over an hour and it never did.
Luckily Ive done so many shapes I dont need to "see" what Im doing to get the results Im looking for. But it definitely Slowed me down. For people who are adjusting for themselves and especially noobies this bug would seriously cramp their style. |
