I've not a clue if it works - I've never tested it. But it would still only affect text and not voice. No, it doesn't - that just removes the typing animation sound. I tested this last night and confirmed that it does not reduce the distance for text chat. I had heard/read that there is a whisper ability though, so I wonder what really invokes it and if it is only a scriptable feature.

If you want to whisper, there is nothing better than IM. I would agree that whisper would be nice, so that you wouldn't need to calling card conference when having a conversation with more than one person, to keep it private.

would someone on this thread please b kind enough to explain to me how to get the name tabs off the bottom of my communicate screen when I don't want to hear people. These r not people I want to mute I just don't want them on 'right now'. (usually they r left over from some dance group where I teleported from and I don't even know them. (sometimes this system seems unnecessarily complex to me, why can't I just use DEL or ESC? OH, help and bother.)

I have a whisper attachment I got a long time ago from I don't know where and never use. But, while wearing it, if you type /88 in front of the chat message it is heard as "Scot Hifeng whispers blah blah blah" and its reach is only 10 meters. |
