I see. You foiled me with logic. I see logic hasn't helped in this statement: Whatever they were, they were insulting the lord with their filth. You believe it's filthy, because some storybook says so. I'll leave it to that, and not return to this thread as I try to stay away from religion/political talks. |

Good luck with the medical treatment for that brain condition you have. You know, the one where you can't understand satire. Oh wait, maybe I have that too. AHA! I see your double reverse-satire, Theo! Damn you, but you got me good. _____________________

I do too. Which is why I know pirates are cool. I'm an aspiring naval officer and a Sub-Lieutenant in the Royal Naval reserve in real life while studying at university - maritime history is one of my many passions. Are you confusing the terms "Pirate" and "Privateer" Or do You find syphylitic murderers with terminal halatosis and the mental developement of a preschooler Cool?? This must be a new and novel definition of the word "Cool" of which i had previously been Unaware. Live and learn. ![]() Angel. |

You know you just described 90% of the world's leaders. The other 10% don't have halatosis. _____________________

Ofcourse, "Pirates" and Privateers were often the same people - atleast the English ones were. Their status changed as countries declared war or made peace on an almost daily basis in the 1680s. So those privateers who had plunderedthe Spanish and were feted as heroes could find themselves criminals the next day. Also, those well respected business men who made a living plundering enemy ships sometimes found it difficult to tell a neutral ship, and accidentally pillaged them to death aswell. You can't make an omelette without breaking legs, I always say. When the English suddenly found themselves switching from an alliance with the Dutch against the Spannish to an alliance with the Spannish against the French, and then the French against the Spannish and the Dutch, it was necessary to smooth diplomatic relations by executing a few privateers and call them pirates. In truth just about every ship owner in the commonwealth had a letter of marque anyway. They were free, after all. _____________________

Angel You know you just described 90% of the world's leaders. The other 10% don't have halatosis. Odd thought that even George Bush was clever enough to get himself elected to power, and is therefore still cleverer than most of the rest of the world. _____________________

Not to mention there were plenty of syphylitic murderers with terminal halatosis amoung the "upper crust" and in government. |

Not to mention there were plenty of syphylitic murderers with terminal halatosis amoung the "upper crust" and in government. Syphilis exisited purely among the lower orders. And monks. A lot amongst the monks. _____________________
