Second Life is about the money for me. I am buying and selling the lands, not for chatting and the sexyness. I am selling the lands unto you for the profits I can benefit for real life needs. Hey how you doing there. You are my antithesis and the antithesis of a lot of people. Still, good luck to you, I don't have the urge to make money I guess. |

Considering that the profit margin for land is pretty thin, enjoy killing yourself for a whole lot of nothin'.
That is, unless you're an ad cutter. Then your profit margin is great, but you're an asshat. _____________________

Bingo. Except that I'd argue they ARE the most fun. I love socializing, but I've had more fun creating stuff than anything else. Everything from my first homemade facelight (created, I think, my first week here) to the half-sim build I'm working on now, has been a challenge, a delight, and given me a deep sense of satisfaction. Different people find different things fun. It happens that SL is funnest for people who enjoy either business or content creation, which is why there's a lot of them around. ![]() |

Greed leads to innovation, improvement, the lifestyle and lifespan that the world enjoys today. So yes greed is good. Focused greed. Blind greed leads to exactly the opposite. Maybe it's all in how greed is defined. If someone wants to achieve profit by any means necessary with the least amount of work possible, regardless of the impact on those around them, then greed doesn't lead to any of the positive things on your list. It leads to exploitation, waste, and grief, and, in fact, it rarely leads to sustainable profit. On the other hand, if someone is driven to success and to better their lot in life through a profitable business, then that could be called greed by some, but it's certainly not a bad thing. The drive to compete leads to innovation and the improvement of everyone's life, whether it's through better products, job creation, or just a general benefit to the economy. All of that is driven by the desire to be successful - maybe that's greed. Maybe it's something else. At any rate, there's my 6L. _____________________

Greed leads to innovation, improvement, the lifestyle and lifespan that the world enjoys today. So yes greed is good. I disagree. The word greed indicates a desire to possess that goes far beyond individual need, and really means that when acquiring things the greedy person denies the needs of others. I don't see anything good at all about greed. Merely wishing to get ahead, be successful, and so on are not the same as greed. _____________________
