So, I posted in the other thread that I had been inspired to make my alt into a creepy kid and I did so. I will admit to being one of those who has always been uncomfortable with child Avs for reasons I could never pin down and never ever thought I would try it. But as a huge horror fan the dark/evil child angle sounded really cool to me and I couldn't resist.

I found some interesting places for such a character to hang around- The Carnival of Doom and Twisted Kids.

I have never ever come close to role playing of any kind either in my 3 years in SL or any other time in my life. It just never appealed to me. Yet I found myself coming up with a back story for this character: A doll brought to life by dark magic, stuck in the child-like form of a doll forever and abandoned since the death of the mortal who brought her into life. Wandering the night alone, not sure of what she is....

I've never felt so creative!

And I even got to freak out my first person today. At Twisted Kids, an adult male human AV asked about where I was going next, what I was doing etc. He then asked me:
"How old are you in SL?"
I said "I'm not certain. I am a doll brought to life. I think the doll was supposed to look about six."
*Poof* He was out of there.

Something about that was fun.

So thanks, forums, for bringing out a creative side I didn't know I had.

Oh, and I need a question.

Have you ever dramatically changed your AV and noticed being perceived differently by the community?

Having a blast,
Ava

In Search, look for a place called the Devil's Labyrinth. Work the mazes (there's 3, and I forget which particular one it is) and try to find the Dark Sanctuary. You'll wanna take LOTS of pictures there.

Cool backstory, Ava. You're going to have a lot of fun with this, I can tell.

In answer to your question, I don't know how differently I'm perceived by others when I change my av but I know I see myself differently and act a bit differently as a result. My first av was dull as dirt and I never socialized. Then I made what is now my main av and somehow became more social at the same time. It was kind of a process so I don't know which really affected which. Now when I switch out to a robot vegetable or a paperclip or a kid or a tiny I think I still basically follow my core behavior with a few more quirks thrown in. If anything my friends and cohorts see that as a more outward cue that it's "fun time!"

Wondering if the last name Addams will become available. Wednesday would go quick, I'm sure. Nice job on the av and the RP storyline.

Hi Ava, really glad my thread inspired you to find so much fun.
I have yet to take the plunge, though mostly due to a hectic weekend working and partying lol.

I think *if* I become a dark child then it will be on my alt. That way I get a true break from my so-called SL which is becoming increasingly busier. Then she could be my daughter perhaps...

I'll post back with pics if I do it ;)

Don't miss the chance to check out Crimson Shadow. (^_^)

And, you mention being a doll. I'm a friend of a really good dollmaker. I should toss you a LM to her cafe'. (^_^)

And, yeah, speaking of changing. You should have seen the reaction when I started to go tall and wear real clothing. (=_=)y

as for the do I get perceived differently when I switch avatars

nope

for those who know me, know I changed often, very often, which is the reason I have quoted morpheus in my sig here

I change so much I never look like my avatar is a good way to put it

so for those who know me, they know me, not the avatar, so to them it is no different than seeing someone in RL with a new outfit, or a haircut, or losing weight, etc

I just look different, same person underneath (behind the screen)

Now I want to make a creepy kid!

But I can't decide between Gage:

Sometimes, dead is better Louis...

or Isaac:

He Who Walks behind the Rows wants you too, Malachi!

Please meet my Dark Child, her name is Winter.
I made the shape myself though I am not happy with the chest (there is too much of it) and I may puff her face up a little more but she is as cute as a button and gleefully dark *smiles*

I'm sensing a bit of reputation or guilty conscience here. Hmmmm... What have your Youtube links been like before? (=_=)

Naw, I've been in other places where it's become customary to say "not a Rick Roll" for a while now.

"I am not happy with the chest (there is too much of it)"

You may want to try using a male shape to get rid of the chest. Or there are a few free kid shapes floating around, which I've been using.

Glad you decided to go for it!
