Hey, that rhymed :D lol.

Ok, I just wanted to get some advise. I have been looking at the mysti-tool attachment on SLexchange. I know some of you have it and I wanted your honest opinions.
I like the look of the landmark manager and the teleport history, i frequently spend ages trying to find the right landmark.
Should I get one? What are the good and bad points of it? Would you recommend it?

Thanks :)

Even the freebie version is so damn useful that I can only say - yes, go get it. :)

I love it.. frequent updates and a huge variety of tools, it will replace several of your other attachments and I find that the antipush is the best in the game. I like the scanners and the ability to rez a platform above the crowd if necessary... its offensive tools are not as good as many weapon systems but that is not what it is for.

Oh, absolutely worth getting. The full version is wonderful, but the freebie version isn't bad either.

Invaluable for letting you know who's around you at all times!

The LM feature I don't use so much, but the TP history is very convenient.

I couldn't live without mine. I bought one for my alt too. A long time ago now but I've always updated it to the latest version. I agree with you on the landmark manager and teleport history. Those functions are so valuable that I chose to have their buttons always visible on the HUD.

Bad points? Are you crazy? =D

Take a look at Mystical Cookie's store in-world (see her picks) before buying from SLX, just in case it's cheaper.

wow! everyone's so positive about it!
I guess I will check out the actual shop. just for the price difference.

Updates? how do you know when one is available? do you have to subscribe to a group or do you just have to keep checking?

anyway. thanks for all the responses. how can I resist buying it when everyone is so happy?!
:D

Must-have in my opinion.

Especially if you're lousy at remembering to take landmarks like me :o

The freebie is supposed to be excellent, but I went and invested in the full version. A bargain for the amount of stuff it has.

ETA: I _think_ I got my update automatically, but I'm not entirely sure :o

There is a Mystitool group that's definitely worth joining, but the tool itself checks for updates on a regular basis and sends the new version to you if one is available.

A settings backup tool is included with Mystitool: Very useful for copying settings from older version to newer version when you upgrade. :)

Oh, this is the most useful tool I have ever bought in SL! My husband's and my alt accounts have the freebie version, but I had to get Raudf a full version.

Thanks to this tool, I can once again rarely brave the Linden owned sandboxes, travel about knowing that it's 'saved' so I can go back later, emote with ease and all that.

*huggles her mysti-tool!*

I'd be lost without my Mysti!!!

NO bad points...and after 6 months, I'm still discovering more features. I just bought it originally as an AV/chat range detector and would have been thrilled with it for that alone due to its small footprint on my screen as opposed to some others I tried.

The landmark/favorites/teleport history are priceless!

I could go on and on....

It is a handy thing to have it seems. A lot of gadgets, and easy to use, although I really don't use mine much except for the landmark manager, and to rez a posing stand. The scanner is nice too, as I keep titles off on my screen so I can see who is around.

Yes, definitely join the group as Mystical Cookie has periodic free lessons on the use of the tool. You will be surprised at what the tool can do. the one I went to was for 2 hours. over 3 hours later we had only gone through the most important items. :)

But hey, all I've heard bout mystitool is so cool that I would recommend it to everybody! :D hehe

Thumbs-up on it for certain. I actually bought it for the LM management function, and I don't like how it's implemented and stopped using that feature. But there's so much other good stuff in there, I wouldn't be without one again. Occasionally, I get a new HUD and it displaces the Mysti Tool, and I'm lost without it until I can move the new HUD to a location that doesn't interfere!

Absolutely essential.

Like others, I'm still finding new features in this thing. It's replaced my chat bug scanner, my flight assist sunglasses, and my facelight. It guards my land. It tells me who's nearby. It tells me where I've been, and helps me figure out where to go next.

I can rez a pose stand, a sky elevator, or a convenient table to sit at with my friends...and there's always an extra chair.

It keeps the noobs from shoving me around, keeps me safe from griefers, and has weaponry that makes me the SL equivalent of a minor nuclear power (which, fortunately, I've never had to use.)

Why, I'd give up my Tesla pumps (well, one pair, anyway) rather than go without my MystiTool. :D

Like purty much everyone said: it's a must-have. I use sooo many features of it in a daily basis, especially the favorites, the emote, the flight assist, the light (in the implant), even the posing stand rezzer. It's a wonderful tool!

I can only think of two 'bad things' about the Mysti-tool.

It takes a while to get to know all the features, because it has so many things it can do! I've got one but haven't yet used it much, because I simply have *not* had time to study all the commands and learn to use it well.

It has a bunch of offensive capabilities that are not able, as far as I know, to be disabled. And several of those weapons would be bannable offenses to use outside of a combat sim. Yes, you can choose to refrain from using the weapons in it. But you're still 'armed and dangerous' if you have it equipped. I would personally love to have a "pacifist" version, with all the offensive weaponry removed. Having the embedded weapons is sort of like having a wonderful palm-sized computer, but being required to carry a loaded bazooka, a grenade launcher and a machine gun at all times, to enable you to use the PDA!

Sometimes the built in flight assist (which you can turn on or off) will cause you to float non-stop in an upward direction. Somewhat rare, but it does happen.

And there was that one (or more) person that had a problem with theirs that caused them to not be able to log in - well they could for 2 seconds, long enough to crash whatever sim they were in.

At a lot of music venues weaponry of any kind, including decorative ones, are not allowed. The owners / hosts will ask poeple to detach their weapons. I have never been asked to detach my Mysti tool.

I do agree that a pacifist version would be very cool though!!

I have been to places that specifically mentioned detaching the Mysti tool - though they stated that they wanted it detached for lag reasons.

Yeah, that's not going to happen. Though I will put it to sleep.

I found the LM history kinda useless, because it only names the sim, not the actual place I was in (like the store name, for example). So I have no idea what button I want when I go back.

And I found the LM menu to be buggy. It would open the world map, but when I click TP, I'd end up in random places.

Otherwise, love the thing. Wish I knew more about it.
