I wonder if there is some way that all the owners in a sim could vote in a covenant against garish advertising.

I know there isn't a way to do that at this time on the mainland. But there
must be some functional way to achieve this as these types of ads at best
are simply unattractive and at worst are a loophole for griefers to extort or
intentionally devalue someone else's land.

if some kind of voting system could be implemented the result could be many
much better looking sims and a few that are full of adcutters next to each other.

Those ad farms are extortion. Plain and simple. The ad cutter is banking that *someone* will get sick of staring at his eyesores, and will buy the parcel from him, at an astronomical price, just to get rid of him.

And then he will turn around and do it again, a hundred times as bad on a hundred times more land, with the money that gave him to go away. And LL turns a blind eye to it, because they profit from all the land sales. Land the ad cutters buy - Land that people buy at insane prices to get rid of the ad cutters... LL doesn't give a flying F*** about your property values, as long as *someone* pays them their tier fees on all that land.

Don't want Ad Farms as neighbors? Refuse to buy Mainland, Refuse to pay Premium Dues, and move to the private sims, where such practices are virtually universally banned.

Able Edition Client Add On (Visibility Mute): I haven't tried this yet but I heard it works pretty well. With the new mandatory update you may have to wait until this version has been updated as well but Mute Visibility looks like it might help you out. Here is a link to this add on.

Yep I am very excited about this. More so than any eyecandy LL could add to the viewer. I think once this becomes a reality in the official client it will be one of the most widely used features.

My dog once ate an entire 64 colour box of crayons.

The result rather resembled that plot.

I don't think the eating of the crayons was the problem....I bet it was the regurgitation of all 64 colours in new combinations.....:D

I'm lucky, I'm on the ainland and even tho there's a small adfarm next to my plot, it's almost hidden and not that annoying. I would LOVE to have that plot too, but....they actually don''t want to sell it?!
