Man, that stinks. Ads are just so ridiculous.

You can see about making a screen out of a prim if you would rather look at something of your own choosing if you want.

Not all areas are like that... there are quite a lot of sims (mostly islands) that don't have any of that kind of stuff. Sure, they often still have shops, but they are tastefully done and blended into the sim.

Wait till there are infocommercials on TV 24/7, telling people they can get rich quick in SL if they buy people's training plans, workbooks and Bundled Stores, Ad signs and all the things you need to be a Financial Legend.

Add farms are SHIT ... they are the crap that NOBODY wants, ifyou do add farms you are SCUM of the lowest order.... why dont you learn a skill you poncy little retards. GOD ...

We really do not need them ... they are essentially visual harrasment into paying SILLY money for tiny plots, and to be honest it works as people want rid of them. Ive seen people try to sell a 512 for 4k and when it doesnt sell ..... they cut it up into 16's throw a few adds on there and ask for 1000 a peice ... strangely enough it sells and another add farmer is born. I know thiers JRA's on these issues.... but be real what incentive does LL have to rectify this .... " your world .... your imagination" sorry my imagination doesnt involve having a loverly dream about something ... and ever 2 second I see a spinning box advertising some bird with cum on her face, or gamble online. We know a LOT of these boxes are click throughs for web pages are SL's equivilent of spam .... pop up boxes......... why doesnt LL just have a policy on these items.....

OK lets ask the question .... 3 prims for a 16sqm ... you cant really do anything with that ... apart from run a metics script but I think that just an excuse. I dont have a solution that hasnt been said a hundred times already. Its just uglyness and it really does make me slightly depressed that we try to take an opertunity to do something different and rather than attempt to make thingsw better ,..... we make it worse, Why dont LL just reimpose some sort of zoning and for that matter..... doesnt Add plots allso have to be verified .. that should be fun seeing that most are there just as an earner....

As do many folks I hate these ads farms. At the same time I look at it as an unfortunate result of the freedom we do have in SL.

However, I would encourage people to let the advertisers know your feelings. In sure that most of those advertising in these farms wont care. But, I do know of at least one "legit" RL company that pulled their ads from a farm after a simple email.

I know that it most likely wont have any real impact on the overall ad fram industry, but it's a start.

Just my $0.02 worth.

Don't people realize, that bombarding an area with small ads is NOT the way to grab the attention of the average citizen.

I mean, who wants to explore an ad farm? It's stupid really.

Simple answer. Get the surrounding plots to put up prim walls blocking the view of the ad farms. Whats the point of an ad farm surrounded by 4 walls that nobody can see?

...granted there really isn't a point to an ad farm. Nobody pays attention to them anyways. They are a waste of a companies time, resources, and you are more likely to drive away customers if you use this form of advertisment.

Any REAL company knows this, and wouldn't sink money into something that wont turn a profit. You're more likely to gain a profit by buying adspace in someones well-built store.

Any REAL customer who isn't a noobie and has any amount of cash won't shop at places that advertise in ad farms. Most of these places have inferior quality products at inflated prices. Usually it's a last desperate cry of the company to try to turn a profit, causing the exact opposite.

So just stop... you're dumb if you build adfarms, and you're dumb if you buy adspace in them. Congratulations on your failing business, please let me know when you sell your property for pennies on the dollar.

The land next door to mine even looks uglier than that with a ton of 16sm plots listed for sale at higher than thou prices. Someone even bought one of the 16sm plots and put up a sign to sell something on how to get rid of ad farms. How rediculous is that.

They're not dumb - they know exactly that they can make money hand over fist from their neighbors buying the blight out. What's dumb is funding this extortion. Why else do you think these things proliferate? I don't think that people ingame fully understand where their advertising money goes, if they sign up with these people. I met a guy whose SL son is into inworld "advertising." When I found out that he was an ad cutter, with billboards on over 120 sims, I politely declined his services. I wonder how many businesses here don't care about being associated with ad spammers?
