can you imagine a Real World spin off called "Virtual World" ?

That has cameras in people's living rooms, home offices, and basements - filming them as they go about their Second Lives, In-world and out.

the Survior guy will beat them to it

Directed by Douglas Gayeton, the docu, "Molotov's Dispatches in Search of the Creator: A Second Life Odyssey," chronicles an avatar, Molotov Alva, as he travels through the virtual world learning of the complex social interactions that take place within Second Life.

Sounds a lot like Tron.

YAY. We might see it in the UK. In 2010. My god it's full of stars ... whoops, sorry, wrong thing!

(Where you been Dnali?!)

*edit* oh Alex Proyas ... I look forward to seeing this then!

More than likely it will be on the "Discovery" channel by then. ;)

Brenda, I think you are being just a touch stubborn on this one. :p

Wouldn't it be better to judge something on its actual content -- the storytelling, the visuals, etc. -- rather than simply dismissing it because it was "filmed" in SL and can be seen outside of SL? Now if you go watch the first episode (linked above) and don't care for it, then I will certainly accept your opinion as valid. Just like regular movies, different people like different stuff. :)

If your objection to mixing RL with SL is just TOO strong even for that? Well, to save you from such an objectionable mixing of the worlds, I will allow you to transfer to me all objects in your inventory that represent or even vaguely resemble RL objects.

Yes Brenda. I mean the shoes!

You may be right, probably are, that really isn't a valid objection, but I'll pass anyway. Just like any other film that upon hearing described I decide it doesn't interest me. No big deal. And you still can't have my shoes.

Machinima is cool and all.

bingo, pretty soon the lindens will take away the fly function and introduce gravity on all objects in world, which means all floating sky boxes will come crashing down

I can never fault a girl for having a take no prisoners approach to shoes, that's serious business after all. Everything else is just fluff.

I`ll watch it. But here`s what gets me..........

Im tired of things seeming like SLers are losers who YEARN to be 'famous' in the real world. Im not saying this whole HBO thing gives off that effect, but other things that have taken place regarding RL media definitely have. I feel we`ve created our own world here and having corporations or a RL magazine mention it does not make it "cool" or crown it as acceptable. (I guess it does to the brainless masses, but it shouldnt be that way) Heck, I hate the real world glam and glitter to begin with, it`s not what shapes life, people follow it like sheeps, its sad. Here in SL we can create and build up a new life without "famous people" telling us what to do. Yeah some people are into the whole "OMG BIG CONTENT CREATOR *Gazmzzzzzzz*" stuff, but many just laugh and talk down on it and go about their business......thinking for THEMSELVES!

Regarding the HBO thing, its good that people will see SL is more than just "sex and gambling" (Banned, I know)........... but does the movie need HBOs approval to be "cool"?.. I guess im tired of the RL big timers telling people whats acceptable or not because people are drones who cant think for themselves. Maybe this isnt making sense here in writing, but I know what I feel and its old. Again, im not saying this HBO thing is bad, but just various other things regarding RL corps is getting to me, like the whole thing of LL thinking if they can get corps here SL will be thriving/cool, why cant it just be good on its own? Why do the RL powerhouses always have the final say

It will be a momentous day when an SL film wins an Academy Award.

I don't believe in powerhouses for some reason. I didn't realize that until I read your post. I think everything is up for grabs most of the time cause its all just people..out there in RL and in here in SL. That being said, I am glad that people have the option of having SL as a sort of sane retreat from what they find oppressing in RL.

But many people would love to make a living at what they love and SL may give some people that chance with tools they understand and enjoy. I wouldn't want to take that opportunity away from those people.
