From: Sandy Carver ha ha I knew that really, it was just an irresistable opportunity for a cheap gag about appendages (regular readers will have spotted that I'm getting obsessed).
However, I hadn't really picked up on the whole Alternative Avatar thing until last night. Do most people have them?
(I've gone off at a tangent again) I think I'm one of the few who doesn't have an Alt. as far as the Hangout goes, If you belong to the group, not that membership is needed to come by, fell free to use the group IM to say hey, I'm here who want to hangout? even if people don't come over it usually starts a good bit of banter for a while. It's true that except for an event the place is raely crowed, it's always a small gathering here and there. Feel free to bring a friend, the sunrises and sunsets are exceptionall lovely there. our October event was a great sucess, I was there the whole 11 hours and never once was I alone, someone was always coming by. I hope to put something together at least monthly, so there is a good chance we will have something by the end of the month. We've recentlybeen having friday afternoons with syd Goff at 1PM SL. I think we'll be doing it again this week. I'll get beack on that.

Sounds ideal. I hung around last night playing on the steel drums for a bit! It is a beautiful spot.

Yes I popped in briefly last night. Nice spot. Does anyone go there early evening (7pm-8pm ish) UK time in the week?

I love the hang out, I will say it time and time again. I brought a friend there with me last night and he raved about how fun and friendly everyone was. We had a blast, even getting stuck with trout in his dayum biplane was fun.

The last few evenings, we have had quite a crowd at the hangout around 7 SLT till 10 SLT (may have been people there later, but I went to bed.)

From: Elora Lunasea Lots of reasons. I have an alt (Renara VanDyke) who I am slowly migrating to be my business avatar. She will get all the support IMs (hopefully), all payments will go to her. Especially in the case of my money tree, which is annoying as hell when you get 25 L$1 payment dialogues in a row. All vendor payments etc will go to her first, let's me keep track of my business more easily as well. Only complication is I'll have to find a way to get my items to change creator so that they become Renara's creations, otherwise I'll still get the bulk of IMs; I think you can do it by linking prims but then some of my stuff relies on prim indexes, those'll be fun =( She's also useful for checking object permissions by giving her stuff to see if it still works right.

From: Lori Harbour I've been in SL for two weeks now, and love it! I spent most of my time shopping and fixing up my avatar. I also took a few NCI classes. Yesterday I started to read the forums. I still need some help!
I would like to find some nice places to hangout and socialize. I've discovered that going back to Help Island and the Ahern Welcome area are not good ideas once you have an attractive av! I must admit to teleporting out of two uncomfortable situations after following "nice guys" to another location. Even the ladies changing room at NCI Kuula caught me with a "lady" offering me a free animation. So now I know that there is a class of citizen who hangs out trolling for newbies like me! Live and learn. Part of the fun of SL.
So...any suggestions for someone who wants to stop being a newbie and meet interesting people from around the globe?

From: Chris Norse (may have been people there later, but I went to bed.) Why would we want to stay after you'd gone? *bats lashes*

I posted my original message last night then called it a night. This morning before going to work I find that I have a bunch of replies! And there appears to be a whole forum social subculture going on here...
Thanks so much! I'll definitely check out the suggested hangouts and events. I hope to see some of you there!
