From: Peggy Paperdoll It's my understanding that the new ceiling hieght is only good with the RC. And, if you use the regular viewer and land on the skybox it will drop to 768. Unless it's been incorporated into the regular viewer somehow.......I doubt that though since we have not had a new viewer required update for the regular viewer in quite some time now. You can only build within the new ceiling with the RC, but once it's up there, it's solid. You can land on it, walk on it, TP to it with the regular viewer and it's fine. AFAIK, prims will only snap back if you try to edit or move them in the regular viewer. (I'm trying to remember if this is a problem with moving prims like doors, but since I don't have any and I use the RC anyway, I'm stumped.)

From: DaQbet Kish Make sure the land is not group owned when using auto return. I deeded some of my land to my alt group and now everything is shown as belonging to others. That includes my skybox, coffee shop, furniture, landscaping….almost everything, and this will make it very difficult to sort out what’s not mine. Our land is group owned. All the objects on it are easily identified as being their owner's. There are only a very few objects specifically deeded to the group. These are ones that have scripts that require this in order to work, such as internet radios. And I don't see what autoreturn has to do with it...

All the stuff from various people is likely not set to group.

I'd have to agree with the OP on this. Since my last visit to my homeland of Hina (or SL for that matter!) about a year ago, I've noticed there are two "bullets" stuck on a neighbor's land, with this attention-getting blue particle bit swirling around them, and they make a crackly noise audible from about 50m away. While both of these are small and relatively high up, they border on my land, and my build there happens to go straight up - right next to them where they're quite noticeable. Then there's also this mysterious object named "> " some 250m up (again, right next to my build, and this is a rather large obnoxious black cylinder) with a script in it named "Space Pod Script". I've also found another of these in neighboring Teal. While I think the bullets appeared as an accidental byproduct of someone's actions, I have a hard time believing the same thing about the "> " item, and can only field off-the-wall guesses as to what it might do.

Those are avatar-trapping cages, essentially really really big bullets =)

From: Dekka Raymaker I think a lot of residents get embarrassed when they lose something on a SIM and I'm certain if I lost a prim penis it would be difficult to IM the owner of the land asking for it back. What were you doing leaving it on someone's property in the first place - you obviously werent all that embarrassed when you put it on - or maybe you were ... hahahaha.

Serious suggestion - could objects be erased by Lindens if after 6 months the owner has not signed up for tier or membership? Six months is long enough for anyone to decide if they want to keep the freebies they picked up on way into SL. And auto return is great BUT much stuff seems to lie on land which no one returns to - the economy fails and land falls vacant or is simply forgotten; and stuff mounts up. Including penis and pussy huds, Lamborghinis and Porsches, bullets and those b-------y cages. It looks like last days of ancient Rome out there. Thanks for comments but Let's clean this place up!

This is an intended derailment and at the same time a serious question...

From: Qie Niangao ... I've had more success than one would have any reason to expect, just IMing the owners of stranded sky prims ... i wish this were always the case. i have a neighbor who has an escaped hollow box prim outside my sky home. from it's texture and shape, it's obvious that is was supposed to be part of his ground home. yet when i IMed him about it, he replied "no, not mine". it's over his "auto-return ON" land, created and owned by him. who does he think it belongs to? yet, i have other neighbors who have been glad be told of their run-away prims. i know i would be.

I had a sculptie I was working on on my sky platform escape from me. Went clear across the sim. It took me a while to find it, and it was on someone else's land with no autoreturn. I eventually found it. I hate litter.

I have no autoreturn on my land, simply because I like to enable people to use their own stuff if they want to relax there. It's been like this for 20 months, and it works well.
The visitors like it, and most pick up their prims when they leave. Just like me, they appreciate the land and lake looking like it does, and almost everyone seems to want to keep the environment clean.
However, I check normally daily to see if I need to return something.
About the temp rez: temp rez, or die scripts, is great, but there is a problem when the object gets stuck. I have a few temp objects for people to use, they will die 1 minute after the person unsits. If the object gets stuck on sim border however, or even in other objects (trees or so) they will not always delete.
So, occasionally I get something returned from neighbouring parcels, and once I got IM from a neighbour wo could not delete the thing stuck in his fence.

From: Zuleika Deere About the temp rez: temp rez, or die scripts, is great, but there is a problem when the object gets stuck. I have a few temp objects for people to use, they will die 1 minute after the person unsits. Well, temp-on-rez is different from scripted llDie(). It seems to be possible--but extremely rare--for temp-on-rez objects to somehow rez without becoming temporary. But I suspect the problem described here is due to a scripted llDie(), which will invariably fail if the object gets stranded on a no-script parcel. (Note that temp-on-rez objects are typically reclaimed immediately upon standing if the person(s) sat on them for more than a minute.) Back when I had just one "home" parcel, I didn't really need auto-return because I assiduously managed my paltry primcount, and I'd immediately dispatch any stray prim at any elevation over my parcel. But now stuff kinda gets overlooked. If it weren't for auto-return, I'd be contributing to the Sky Junk problem, too.

From: Viktoria Dovgal It doesn't always work, but a quick IM "hey, in case you were looking for your moss covered three handled family gradunza, it's at [slurl]" works a lot of the time. Some people don't care, others had no idea their stuff wouldn't automatically disappear or forgot where they were, and are happy to come get it. If anyone happens to find my Pillow Talk pillow that mysteriously disappeared from my house...I would LOVE an IM.

Why isn't there a way for a resident to find potentially misplaced rezzed objects?

Yes that would be rather embarressing lol. "Hello my name is so and so and the other day my penis fell off on your land if you happen to find it can you please return it as I really miss it. Thanks"

Well if the landowners who were kind enough to put up banlines and no object entry would be smart enough to put a 5minute autoreturn on, people crashing into their landborders wouldn't be such a problem, but personally I don't give a crap I leave the vehicle where it stops , if they want their land border filled with derilict vehicles it's their problem, as half the time I might end up a sim away and not even know where the crashed vehicle is. I know one place with someones crashed batmobile that's been there for 18months.

Positive, huh? About what, Second Life? Let's see. Positive and Second Life. Positive and Second Life. Positive and Second Life. Forgive me, it just seems so strange seeing or hearing these two words together. I just had to write them both up a few times to try and get a feel for them. But nope, no feel whatsoever. It's totally numb. /scratches head: Ok, in response to above question. Don't you know Miracles only happen in the movies and fairy tales. You may continue, Chippewa.

From: Jig Chippewa Serious suggestion - could objects be erased by Lindens if after 6 months the owner has not signed up for tier or membership? I think something like this would help a lot, and could be done without inconveniencing much of anybody: Why not just sweep the resident list regularly for accounts that have not logged in for six months and aren't paid-up Premiums, and push all in-world objects back to their Lost+Found folders, then push their entire Inventories to some offline storage separate from the main cluster? If they come back later, restore the Inventories to online, but not the in-world objects. (Yes, I know the mechanisms for *finding* in-world objects owned by a particular agent are not very efficient now, but it's not like that problem is NP-complete or anything.)

From: Amity Slade Why isn't there a way for a resident to find potentially misplaced rezzed objects? I really wish there was. Due to my propensity to lose objects (not as much as previously) plus items that just seem to grow legs and walk away, that would be wonderful. I know there are prim finders on the market. I purchased two of them and thus far, neither have helped me find anything. Especially since the items I look for don't seem to be buried in things on my land/in my home, but are somewhere "lost in space."
