i was talking with someone the other day about this, and suddenly thought y'know, it was inevitable - all the other bugs and inefficiencies 'throttled' this prob from surfacing. this is a deep one - i figure they either kill it and things are 'forever perfect'
- or the whole thing just falls apart lol. but i am optimistic... just a PITA in the meantime. :\_____________________

It was the same thing I was trying to buy yesterday. It wasn't for me. Max, I think she knows what you are trying to buy her - and she really doesn't want it. Thanks Brann, from me and the other 58,000 of us! _____________________

Interestingly, if we could organize a strike and NOBODY went in-world at all for, say, a week, do you think it'd make LL get a move on? ![]() No. Because they know all landowners will still pay tier and not risk losing the land they've paid big bucks for. And if nobody logged in (except for bots, most likely) there wouldn't be any outrage over things not working, because nobody would be in there to notice, or to cause the problems in the first place. So then they could trumpet "a week without downtime! world running like clockwork!" In other words, put the usual LL spin on things, just like they've done with "residents WANT voice, etc. etc." _____________________
I dont know what the actual answer is.. I just know LLs response was at best...flaccid. That's a very good way to put it, and now I know why we still haven't seen the promised blog entry... ...the Lindens are still waiting for their shipment of Lie-agra to come in to firm up their flaccid reasoning. |

In other words, put the usual LL spin on things, just like they've done with "residents WANT voice, etc. etc." If we were to take this one step further, then logically the landowners wouldn't leave SL, despite being frustrated - because they've invested big bucks in it, like you said. So is all the talk about leaving just... talk? |

Why is it that it takes LL weeks to resolve issues. My first opinion of LL came early in the year when they couldn't keep their web site and forum up for more than a few hours... then it moved to something else, now something else... its just going to keep on.
As much as I'm for new features and think its an important part of keeping SL moving ahead, I think they should implement a freeze on all things new... no new server software, no new client add-ons. Bug fixes ONLY. Most real companies have freeze periods where they prove to themselves and their clients that they can run for X weeks without issues. I guess LL hasn't gotten to that level of the IT maturity model yet? |

You know, I just realized something.
This is what happens to me everyday for as long as I have lived. But, then, I was told that it's because I needed to go to bed and sleep. ZZZzzzzz |

If we were to take this one step further, then logically the landowners wouldn't leave SL, despite being frustrated - because they've invested big bucks in it, like you said. So is all the talk about leaving just... talk? Well, the truth is, there will be an end point where even business owners with lots of land will face facts - that there is no point having a business if no one is buying anything. And if this keeps on, we will reach that point. People will cut their losses and cash out. People simply won't continue to pay large amounts of real money to LL for expanses of land, overpriced classified ads, membership fees and so forth, if customers lose confidence and essentially . . . stop playing. That's why I would really love to hear more from the Lindens about what is causing this, and whether or not there will be a fix for it. I'm afraid they simply don't know, and of course wouldn't tell us that, because if they did, there would be an exodus. coco _____________________

I was just thinking, even IRC crashed and it was nothing but text..... I think anytime servers begin to load up they are going to have failures.

Most real companies have freeze periods where they prove to themselves and their clients that they can run for X weeks without issues. I guess LL hasn't gotten to that level of the IT maturity model yet? Well, they TRIED, but true to form with the way LL usually handles things, they tried it by putting the bug FIXERS in the freezer, and were astonished when they passed away. They have now given up on having a code freeze on the grounds that it sets them back in bug fixing because of having to recruit new bug fixers. _____________________

I think before people start to leave they will stop buying stuff and tier down to 0 (zero) which alot have already.
It would be nice if LL went into more detail about whats up with the cash transactions but I have very little faith in them to do that ;-/ _____________________

All sarcasm aside, I do hope they do a Post-Morten on these issues once they finally do resolve it.

I'm afraid they simply don't know, and of course wouldn't tell us that, because if they did, there would be an exodus. I think they don't know - they don't even know what causes inventory loss. I lost my entire inventory under my previous av. They investigated and told me they couldn't figure out what had gone wrong. "I acknowledge that this is an unsatisfactory outcome and apologize for the inconvenience," said the Linden who responded to my support ticket. That was strike one. So now I have a new av (because the other account seemed to be so borked I didn't dare use it) and all this is happening instead. Strike two. |

thumbs up for the 6th day with issues starting at noon PDT *sarcasm off*.... its realy like a clock work! maybe its time LL had a talk with Snacky Linden about eating around the servers? _____________________
There's, uh, probably a lot of things you didn't know about lindens. Another, another interesting, uh, lindenism, uh, there are only three jobs available to a linden. The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.
