*snerks* They are inflating traffic so they can charge premium price for the land. Higher traffic usually means great place.. except that only worked with the teleport hubs.

Hey, Do not start what you will not let us finish. We had Lias backed into a corner and Millie pulled the plug :p Cool new profile pic btw.
Go tell it to the bots in the picture, lady. They can be programmed to nod in agreement and WE can celebrate another disillusion win. And Millie did not 'pull the plug' She responded to a concierge request from the OP when her pity party spun out of control.

These are probably just bots trying to raise the traffic rating of the parcel. Linden Lab has changed the way traffic is recorded and has promised to really crack down on this practice now. Just Abuse Report one of the bots standing there (check the box to include a picture).

From: Jack Linden
We will be moving across to the new Traffic scoring process on Monday 31st August, which means that the Traffic scores you see on Tuesday 1st September will be the new ones.

From: Jack Linden
Lastly, we realise how important our continued efforts to deal with Search gaming are. The announcement has had a clear impact but there are still venues out there that are gaming the Traffic score so we will be pushing harder to make sure that unfair use of Bots or other means to game Search are stopped.

Looks like someone who used to own a shop/mall/club/whatever cleared their land for sale and then forgot to cancel their bot rentals.

My first thought was that they were camper bots who didn't get the memo that the place that was there before had closed down...

I suspect Darien and Raudf have the right of it, though.

I actually know what was there before.

It used to be the home of a neighbor. She moved out a few weeks ago. She sold in hours, and the new buyer has been unable to sell due to pricing too high (2L sqm, but there's a giant ad board across the road from it, and until LL listens to my AR and removes it, that plot won't sell - however this ad board does not glow, is 7m tall, and shows 4 ads at a time - exactly within the rules - it just happens to also be 20-30m long...).

This scene however, repeats itself every few mornings on different plots on the sim.

Pussycat - what ARE the rules about ads, please?

What if they are spinning around, is that still okay?

I wish it wasn't allowed to have nothing but an ad on land, period. They are eyesores. Or, maybe have an official Linden sign/billboard, that can (legally) only have a texture added, to ensure that all such are more uniform visually and thus can be sort of ignored easier. Lol. Yes, a more predictable visual landscape, I guess.

I'm *for* certain things like that, because I'm visually-oriented and visual blight tends to bother me. I'll admit it's a totally selfish reason.

- A thread where I asked that very question. The second reply links to the policy, and I use that link when filing ARs.

Thanks, Pussycat. Excellent resource.

I found this very informative:

From: Jack Linden
The advertisements themselves..

Adverts should be grounded to the terrain, not floating.
Adverts should extend no higher than 8m from the ground.
No rotating, no flashing content and no particles.
No unsolicited dispensing of IMs, notecards, landmarks or content.
No light sources or glow (full bright is acceptable however).
Advertising hoardings should be Phantom.
Adverts must be clearly PG in nature.
No sound and no temp-on-rez content.
Ban lines should be switched off.

From this link: https://blogs.secondlife.com/community/features/blog/2008/09/13/more-information-on-ad-farms-and-network-advertisers?

Thanks again. The ad I am thinking of breaks at least 2 rules.
