I've had a lot of fun at a 1930's style burlesque club called The New Champagne Rooms. They're usually open for business at around 9 to 11 pm SL time...they have a website that lists their schedule.

From: Czari Zenovka Frank's Place - Again - nice dress required - only problem there is major lag. The main reason we don't go now. Humans only too. They lost a few supporters over that but as you can tell by the lag, it did not bother them at all.

From: Weston Graves I've had a long grueling couple of days trying to tackle some old incomplete builds. Tonight I decided to go clubbing just to try to break out of my reclusive routine. I've determined there are three types of clubs - those where all the customers wear leather, weird chains, and unidentified spikey things dripping off their boots, belts, elbows, and occasionally noses -- and those where the customers wear pretty much nothing at all. The third type of club is the most common of course, the vacant ones. Whereas it used to be all 80's music which became tiresome, there are now two types of music -- the electronica you might find in a gym that goes thump-mm-thump-mm-thump-mm-thump-mm-thump-mm-thump all night, or something that sounds like what I imagine a burning car full of crucified cats during a train wreck might sound. We never imagine getting old, but it seems to have happened to me somehow. It isn't helping me get out and socialize. Is there a market for a 60's and 70's themed club? Is there an SL rest home? Try Trippy Vibes. It's mostly classic rock. As far as music goes, the clubs you go to really depend on which dj is playing. I know some deejays will only play certain genres (ie thumpa thump). I've gone into clubs and tried to request songs, only to be ignored because what I asked for didn't fit with the set currently playing. When I play, I don't care if something "fits" or not. If someone wants to hear HIM, Linkin Park, Johnny Cash, Monty Python, Cyndi Lauper, Led Zeppelin, or anything else, I will play it, no questions asked. Most of the clubs out there also do themed events. Most of the themes are overdone, but not much you can do about that when you have eighty billion clubs, all vying for your attention. Unfortunately, the most popular themes are spiky leather things and nudity. Frankly I don't get why club owners give a flying rat's ass about the traffic that streams through the club. People aren't paying to get in, and owners are paying contest boards to have people show up, and often staff are getting paid, in addition to the club owner playing rent and/or tier on the land. Even clubs with malls don't do well financially, as a rule. This is why I laugh every time I hear someone say "I'm opening a club and I'm going to make lots of money to help pay for my sim." No. You aren't. Trust me on this. People will show up, vote stack, and win your contests, and then they will all leave. And you will find that the same people win over and over again.

You might like Footloose. They have retro music there quite often playing classic rock, oldies, funk, etc. It's pretty eceletic though, so that's not an exclusive view of what they play. There are no strippers, it's all about the music and hanging out and dancing. The sploder is one of the better ones I've found and the even cash prizes are usually pretty good (~500L).
They had a "hippy" event yesterday and that was one of THEE coolest in-world experiences I've ever had. It was like a psychodelic time warp, complete with a hookah surrounded by pillows. Good times. The DJs are usually pretty top notch too. All around good people.
I think a large part of the crowd tends to be UK, so there are often events going on earlier than most other clubs.

I'm a House and Trance fan so I love Happy Clam Island and Organica..amazing particle shows and great DJ's.
Unique avatars...everyone in the groove. Not people looking for romance as much as really creative folks just dancing the night away.
On the Equinox they burned the giant wicker man and Burning Life is going to have to be over the top fantastic to even come close.

I can't recommend any club in particular because the clubs I go to (because friends are DJing or hosting there) have different venues on any given night. While there are clubs with consistent themes in SL, I think that ones with varying ones are more common and I generally find I am better off following the DJ whose music I like to whatever venue they may be working. Try finding a DJ that likes playing 60s and 70s music and more likely than not, a fair amount of his or her shifts are going to cater to that kind of crowd.

What the hell is wrong with you? Why would you imagine such a thing? OK - I'm joking. I have some LM's to some pretty decent Jazz clubs, although I have to confess, it's been a long while since I've gone out. If you're interested in Jazz, give me a holler and I'll pass them your way.

I ask the unasked question: Do you have to wear a club to go mailing?
