Face to Face With CyberExtruder

Are you a Second Life resident who is fed up with your appearance? You’ve scoured the shops, looking for an avatar face that would be unique to you; something that captures the very essence of you — or at least, the persona you wish to project in Second Life. But you just can’t find it. Frustrating isn’t it?

You could opt to make your own, but most of us lack the skills to create something convincing, realistic and actually worth showing in public. Now, though, this need not be a bar to personalising your avatar — after a fashion. CyberExtruder provides a quick and relatively easy solution to your personalisation dilemma. Using a passport-style photograph, their automated conversion software will generate a realistic Second Life face in about a second. Whether you opt to use a self-portrait, or an image of someone else, is entirely up to you, though you might want to think carefully before pursuing the latter route.

The CyberExtruder service is a nice convenience for SL residents who want a more photorealistic face for their avatars, but the results can sometimes be a bit startling. (more…)

Now everyone can look like their Drivers License Photo!

Seriously though this is just another step down the Myspace/ Eharmony in 3D path

Phil L had also mentioned something similair to this someday.

Of course I wonder how many people will end up with looking just like Justin or Angelina.

No its not a advert... I have nothing to do with these guys. I just noticed it today reading some things on SL and have never seen this before so thought I would ask and not everyone is a Poser Pro.

Hasn't there been something like this on Avatar Island for quite some time? Don't know if it's the same people.

Its definitely is interesting - Namssor does a custom version of this I have no idea the difference in quality though.

I can only guess some reading might think it was an ad becuase in your post you included some of their copy. Which is only logical since you were asking directly about the product.

I'm with you. Making animations well impresses me no end cause I can't do it at all. I tried in QAvimator and my poor AV looked like it had St. Vitus Dance lol.

Yes you can create realistic 3D faces based on photographs in Poser - but I didn't think you can upload them to SL???? Is this possible?

CHAS looks like Snake Plisskin?

I bet not. I bet this is a wild goose chase. Or wild eyepatch chase.

Sorry, it was a pretty obscure reference, but Brenda got it. I think.

Maybe I should have said: "Voodoo Bamboo, I thought you were dead."

If you check out the Gallery forum you'll find at least one thread in which Namssor shows examples of his skins. Also, i think it's in tha sexy avi thread, he's posted some examples of custom skins made for people based on their own pics.
To me it looks seriously freaky, but that's just MHO.

Yep, too much realism in our cartoon world looks pretty strange to me too.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Face to Face With CyberExtruder
