"Adult content" warning received ... no idea why

Yesterday night I, too, was hit by one of these warnings that "We noticed that, while either your parcel description or classified ad contains or references adult content, your land is not flagged as Adult."

I don't have the foggiest why I got that. In my profile I run two small ads for scripted devices. I see nothing in the parcel description (Samodiva/71/210) or the ads which I would deem naughty, not even remotely.

How can I find out what bad word caused the warning? I raised a support ticket, but in my experience the Lindens don't give straight answers to questions like this, if at all. Especially to a lowly "basic" user like myself.

Any ideas, someone?

Stuff like:

If one of your scripted devices controlled another and the term 'slave' was used.....

That would be FILTHY!!!!

Adult content keywords
08-26-2009 04:36
While Linden Lab keeps the list of adult keywords secret, the guys and girls at slapt.me have created and maintain a list of offending words.

You can check it at: http://www.slapt.me/wiki/index.php/Adult_Content_Keywords

Gavin, I edit that list of words you refer to, and have tested every one of them several times to see what flags as adult and what does not, so I should know better than most what would trigger it.

I only own one 16m test parcel, with no description at all, and one object named "object" on it, and it's not in search. I got the warning email.

My alt, who owns land on both Zindra and the mainland, did not.

So their email is not going to the right people based on my experience.

I got the email too, but only one email rather than the 3 I got last time from the 3 different plots that had classifeds in the month prior to that email being sent. I do have one plot left on the old mainland that I use as a redirect to zindra. afaik it's keyword clean.

It looks like the emails were either generated from a relatively old backup rather than live data or they possibly just used the names from last time and resent if they worked on the theory that no one ever listens to them.

Do we know how long they keep backups for? I know Jack said they could go back 30 days but I doubt they do incremental backups but tbh I have no idea.

as an aside..

If the 2-4% of smut in sl is correct then I would be expecting around 800 islands to flag just for commercial use and then another unknown number for residential use. So far we've got something like 400. But then zindra should be bursting at the seams already because 4% of current mainland is around 250 sims yet there is a lot of empty land around.

The volume of the howls we hear will be in direct proportion to the enforcement of this email methinks. LL expecting residents to go around ARing other residents is a sure fire way to make sure that people can stay where they are untouched and that there will be an increase in bad blood as resident turns on resident.

Fun times ahead :)

It's probably the same one others are getting...

From: someone
Dear Second Life Resident,

In September, the Adult Content Policy transition period will end, and in preparation, we recently reviewed parcel descriptions and classified advertisements. We noticed that, while either your parcel description or classified ad contains or references adult content, your land is not flagged as Adult. We're writing to alert you to this oversight in your listing and let you know how easy it can be to address it. Please note that if you don't take action, your listings may be removed from search results (though they will continue to incur full listing fees) and account restrictions may be imposed when the transition period ends.

How can you avoid this messiness and continue to reach your target audience with your listings? Simply comply with the Adult Content Policy by taking one of the following actions, if you have not already done so:
- Private region owners, change your region rating to Adult.
- If you rent, or if you own Mainland property then move to an Adult region (Zindra or Adult rated private region.
- OR Remove any adult-themed content from your parcel description, classified ad and land (whichever is applicable).

For further detail, read the Adult Content Policy and tips.

Thank you,
Linden Lab Customer Support

...and I don't have any classifieds and all my land is on zindra. I opened a support ticket to ask what's up but have not heard back yet.

I also got the email which I assume is the promised one from Blondin but it seems like they didn't get it completely right as my profile is good and the mature land I have doesn't have any naughty words in it and we are already on Zindra lol

I initially refrained from doing that on purpose, because I didn't want to spam any gratuitous advertising here. So all ignore the sales pitch, please! As much as I am unhappy how LL treated its customers recently, I don't care a lot anymore whether somebody buys from me or not. SL is not a reliable business platform anyway.

The parcel reads "Blue Sun Devices" and "You may buy advanced LSL scripted devices here."
From: this is Ad #1

You can buy advanced SL Technology here! Also selling the HAWK: The most cost-effective area security device in Second Life!

From: this is Ad #2

The most cost-effective area security device you can get. More features than some more expensive (and all cheaper) systems. Costs less than half of what you have to pay for most.

I constructed this device because all existing security orbs are either too expensive, too hard to operate or do not offer the needed functions.

Some features:

* Can work as a visitor greeter, notecard giver or intruder detector
* Unlimited number of administrators
* Categorisation of avatars as friendy/hostile/other
* Full support for groups and group land (needs to be deeded to teleport home)
* Teleport home intruders
* Freely selectable range and scan interval
* 1 prim only!! - Small landowner friendly
* Object fully modifiable -- adapt size and form to your interior design

Now that ...

As of today, 758 regions are rated adult total, an increase of 120 overnight, due to the email.

The word "hard."

It's the only one offhand that I can see even remotely approaches any 'adult word.'

If so then it was all computerised.

that's still short around 1/3 of their guesstimate.

I'd like to see their semi final figures on content now. They've sent the emails out so they know who and they know the size of the landholdings being advertised. Not that they'll ever tell us of course because I doubt they've even considered doing that calc.

the other third on pvt. estates are flagging wrong.
last night, One club has the land set to not adult but mature, and set to must have age verification.. their group chat was all a buzz and the owner said it is done right refuses to fix it... no idea, and does not get it.

/me shrugs this is the fourth group/club I "had" belonged to that has locked out even its own dancers/employees after they account verify using PIOF-PIU..

So I would think there are still hundreds that just do not get it that darn check box needs to go (I can't think of the Jira to vote on maybe someone will post the link again so others make sure to vote?

I've been hearing variations of that from a few sources now and that's what I'm afraid has been happening. I suspect a lot of mainland businesses will also misunderstand and think that by using those check boxes they will comply.

It's not quite as messy as it can possibly be but it's close.

Well, you have hostile, and intruder in there. Maybe it got confused and the phrase "hostile intruder" got a false positive, even though the words are separated. Though "hostile" and "intruder" by themselves might have sent off some warning bell.
"home intruders"

Eh, I don't know.

I bet that's it, Lexxi. They think the security device is violent combat because of the hostile and intruder words.

The adult filter is not just picking up plot name and description. Any object "showing in search" will also be filtered. At least that's my best guess. (edit: I guessed wrong)

Also.
Every plot "showing in search" has it's own schnazzy web page. It must be part of how all search works, but we can view it.
At the veryvery bottom of each All search return inworld is the magic URL.

I find my parcel pages(tm) very useful, especially for something like this.

It's not supposed to be doing that, this issue was raised early on and LL said that wouldn't be the case.

Can Linden Lab blog something and clarify? Or send us a follow-up e-mail with more detailed information? Or ignore our confused cries after generating thousands of vague threatening e-mails? What will happen next.

Oh OK = )

I did not know that. Thank you.

I am sure it's been mentioned before, but that seems like it would create a less "predictable" world. Meh.

I predict an excited Torley vid tutorial, with a small chance of a new "phone voice Torley" version.
