Ok so I saw the thread abou whether or not we love or hate grid wide hunts. I just did the Twisted Hunt and it was ok, got a few good items but threw out most. It was fun hunting for that lil red box though haha. I was just wondering what are some good hunts, like i mean are there any with any good, quality items??? What hunts would you recommend and are they going on right now?

Treasure Quest!

I have not done any of the grid-wide treasure hunts but participated in the Treasure Quest Hunts since my Rezz day. This is a multi-sim multi-vendor hunt. They have 2 styles of hunts. The regular hunt that has between 20-25 stops. This hunt is free and the prizes are wonderful. You Start by getting the first clue on Treasure Quest Isle, this clue has a Landmark for first vendor and the clue to lead you to the prize. When you find it you buy for 0L and get the next clue with the prize. Help is offered via Group IM. There is an option for those who don't want to be inundated with group ims. With this option you recieve a group notice that hunt has started and you can hunt without the group ims. These regular hunts happen mid month and end of the month.

The second style is the Challenge hunt. Here the clues are more difficult and there is no help offerred in group chat. Clues cost 10L each and there are 10 stops. Money raised goes to keep the hunts going.

We also have lots of fun with non hunt events like parties and formal dances. Treasure Quest Isle has been decorated with various themes, current theme is Willy Wonka and the Choclate Factory.

Like I said the prizes are wonderful and not your typical freebies. Items such as clothing, houses, skyboxes, jewerly, hair and skins. There is a good mix of male and female items too! Come check it out! http://slurl.com/secondlife/treasure%20quest%20isle/26/192/23

Spring Hunt
03-18-2009 15:50
There is a hunt currently going on called the Spring Fling hunt I believe. You have to be a memeber of the group. One of the owners of our sim; Margo Imako, has a corset in her store - Steambound - on the Dysnomia sim that you can pick up in the hunt and I think you can get information on the hunt in her store. Also Margo is usually around so she can answer hunt questions for you as I know she is getting involved in quite a few of these. We also have a fishing hunt coming up starting on April 1st being sponsored by April Loire and Coull Creations. There will be three original items up on the hunt that you can get.

I believe Prim Perfect magazine does its own version of a treasure hunt. Go pick up a copy and take a look. I know I've seen posters about it at some stores inworld. Looked like fun and a bit challenging.

Personally, I really enjoy doing the hunts. I like finding the clues/items. And I've found some great stores doing them.

And I've found some great stores doing them.

That is why I like hunts. Gives me a chance in a compressed amount of time to TP around and see a whole bunch of places that I have never seen before.

The Fly A Kite hunt is currently going, and is pretty cool. Utilizing new software, the kites are scripted, so if someone moves to another sim, they simply rez the kite and the kite network is updated and the new landmark given.

Definitely keep an eye on Honey's site -- I try to update it any time I find a hunt.

Lemania Indigo does a sim wide hunt pretty much every month and it lasts all month. She usually has 30-50 new creations in it -- which are all fabulous in my opinion -- and the other store owners on the sim also contribute items. I go out of my way every month to make sure I at least get this one done.

Also Elonde's has a sim wide hunt every month that most of the sim participates in -- though these items are often more difficult to find. She has a subscribe-o-matic group that you can belong to so that you get notified of the hunts each month.

And as someone else mentioned, the Treasure Quest hunts are a ton of fun. The clues add a fun dimension to them and they will help anyone out with additional hints to ensure you complete it. There are usually 25-30 stops and they do them twice a month. In between the regular hunts, they often do smaller 'challenge' hunts -- harder clues and no extra hints, but tons of fun. These were actually the very first hunts that I ever did in SL.

You can join "Hunts Suck" group if you want to get clues and more without being muted or banned by people who think it should be as hard as possible. You can give exact locations in there. You can say what you want to. Long as it is about hunts, you can say good or bad things and gripe if you want. No one will shout you down for it.

The name is supposed to be funny. If I get banned from hunts or stores for having that group then I was right that some of these people let power go to their heads.

IT SHOULD BE FUN!

Know this was awhile ago, but posting reply anyway, SPRING HUNT FUN!

There is a hunt, on till the end of April, that is still going on. Spring Is In The Air.

Spring Is In The Air is a hunt that showcases 108 new designers in Second Life.

There is a blog that keeps you up to date about everything to do with the hunt.

http://sl-easteregghunt.blogspot.com/

What is different about this hunt? The fact that they have a BUNCH of men's items, AND that they have not taken the EASTER theme to heart, but gone with the SPRING theme. There are things here that you can use all spring, if not all year! Great clothes, fantastic furniture, terrific plants and MORE! Come to the first place on the hunt, click the info board, and get the egg for a great journey into finding some very talented designers!

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Blaises%20rush/160/36/21

You can find everything you need to know on the blog, even if something is broken, they let you know! So check the blog out and if you get stuck, go to the blog, they have all the locations numbered on the side so that you don't have to miss anything if frustrated. But don't forget, there is a hunters group where you can get help all the time!

The SL Discovery hunt begins on the 1st May. It aims to showcase the 'smaller' sl businesses, and so may be a good way to discover some new designers.

i MUCH prefer store-wide hunts (of 5-25 itmes) over grid wide hunts. i am willing to pay for the hunt items and complete an outfit, furniture set, what have you for a much lower price than buying it off the shelf.

There is a new one starting May 1, SLDiscovery

Sherlock Holmes theme.. They have alot of vendors in it and I think this one would be worth looking into, in all hunts you will find things you dont like, but then again what you dont like others might.. I am in the SLDiscovery hunt and made something only for it... What I have found is most of the people in the hunts do try to have unique things, and take pride in what they put into it..

And I also have a store hunt ; )) (sim actually)

Except that I heard there are over 500 stops. That is just too large of a hunt for me as it gets monotonous and if I get stuck at one place, I'll sometimes get frustrated enough to quit and then end up missing a whole lot of places further down the line. Anymore, I have a hard time getting excited about anything other than a store and/or sim-wide hunt.

Yes, there are over 500 businesses participating, but 11 starting points, so if you get to a dead end (bugger I hope not though) just hop to the next one.

I made something unique for it, too, Tarina. Had some fun, and yes, agree, it's a way to show the quality of what you do.

Ohana Isle
04-22-2009 05:35
I love the hunts at Ohana Isle. all the stores on the island take part. they just finished their April one, but have a new one every month. it was one of the first places I went as a newbie. I'm still using/wearing some of the things I got in my first hunt. some of the stores are Buddha Beats, Tree House Treasure, Eolande, Punk Shack, & Dorcas.

they recently added a special HUD so you know which treasures you've found & which are left.

I joined the SL discovery hunt as a designer.

One thing i have been VERY pleased about has been the fact the facilitators have strict guidelines about how to hide the prize. Also stores over a certain size are required to hve a hint giver to help with the finding of items.

I love doing hunts and looking for things but i tend to get very frustrated in a store which hides it in between walls or in huge stores.

I started on the Scarlet one the other day because I was bored. Got something like 11 to 15 of the prizes before I got bored of that. Then Started rezzing them at the hangout.

There was some things . . well, I made the hangout "Adult" there for a little while, by accident. oops.

I started out doing the Treasure Quest ones and probably still enjoy those the most because I have to solve a clue to find the prize.

The Grid Wide ones I liked at first, but when I started looking at the amount of time in gathering the items, unpacking, looking at or trying on, compared with what I kept - well, they aren't so thrilling anymore.

I still love the store and/or sim-wide ones that some of my favorite designers have -- cuz then I get their stuff for free and I keep almost all of that. I do Lemania's every month and probably keep 95% of what I get from her store and another 50-75% of all the rest.

Aw, I love the grid-wide hunts. (Or I did, until my computer died and the new one decided it didn't want to play nicely with SL...) The Treasure Quest hunts and the Peace on Earth hunt took my alt all over the place - half the time she'd teleport in somewhere, find the globe, and then spend the next half hour or so exploring the sim she'd landed in.

I (she) also encountered a lot of interesting new designers that way.

I have to say, though, the hunts with 400-500 items are a shade overwhelming.

There is a master list on their webpage, if you get stuck skip it look at the list and move on.... Thats my plan anyway.. I am a vendor in this like 396...... so I really would like to know how many will actually come to my store...

I also have a sim wide hunt to always, treasure chests I change out every other month or so.. (when I remember)
