From: Trout Recreant OK - I'm going to give a definitive answer on how to get around the gambling ban. This works especially well for people in the UK where US laws don't apply, but if you promise not to tell anyone you heard it from me, I'll tell you that it works fine in the US if you use a Visa "Gift Card" instead of a regular credit card.
Turn SL off. Don't even have it open. Go to any number of professionally run gaming sites. If you like poker, I recommend BoDog, PokerStars, Full Tilt, Ultimate and Absolute. There are plenty of other sites that have gaming other than poker. Do some research on the site first. Once you pick one you like, sign up through an affiliate so you maximize your initial sign up bonus. Then deposit money to the site and gamble away. You will have a safer, more regulated game, the site will run better, there won't be reliance on some questionable script, and honestly, I think you'll have a much better time.
LL won't be able to do anything to you because you will be using a platform other than SL.
Taaaa Daaaaa! You are now able to circumvent the SL gambling ban just by gambling elsewhere. Hmmm.. could you.. open a gaming site of your own, then build a casino with links directly to it, and have that site trigger an event that gives prims that you can then sell in-world for L$? It'd be rather complex, but I'm just wondering if that would be allowed... I wouldn't do it, I promise lol

From: Okiphia Rayna So was he banned? Seems to not show it anymore if so.... How long? =P Not that I know of. He was here last week though, ranting about getting an official warning about his rantings. If his name comes across the abuse teams desks again, I suspect they will give him a bit more than a warning.

From: Okiphia Rayna You arent selling them with the 'chance' of that prim count suddenly going up or down, with a weighted chance most likely to the down side, then exchanging them for L$ once the person finally gives up.. selling prims is OK.. selling a chance of something either good or possibly very bad is not.. at least if the good and bad things involve gain or loss of L$ Do you know what a money laundering business front is? Hmmm. I guess I don't want to explain how the whole thing would work.

It'd be rather complex, but I'm just wondering if that would be allowed... I wouldn't do it, I promise lol No. People should just forget about gambling altogether in SL and go gamble elsewhere if that's what they want to do. There are plenty of places on the internet where they can go to do that that are far better for gambling than SL ever was. Even if the ban was lifted tomorrow, I wouldn't consider gambling in SL because no matter how good a job a casino owners does, they simply can't compete with the sites that are dedicated to nothing but gambling. Gambling in SL is like using a screwdriver to hammer a nail into a board.

I agree completely however, I would never use SL to gamble as such (SL in general if you use RL money at all is slight gambling in my opinion lol)... actually.. I just don't plan on gambling at all unless I have some extra quarters and end up in vegas somehow...

From: Chaos Bikcin ok so u have a "free" casino, but to use the machines you have to put in special prims instead of L$, but to get these "special prims" you have to buy them, eg L$5 a peice then play with those, you either win/lose depending on the game, then if you win you can give these "special prims" to someone in exchange for some lindens
I'm sure the idea has been concocted allready somewhere, if not then u cannot get in trouble for it as you are only selling/buying prims, then its up to you what you do with said prims.
When there's a will there's a way And when SL finds it, they'll shut you down for gambling if there's a way to convert between prims and money ($L or any other currency).

From: Alyx Sands I still don't understand what's so great about bloody gambling anyway. I know what you mean: RL gambling seems an extraordinarily labor-intensive way to support one's local organized crime syndicate. And SL "gambling" is to gambling exactly as SL "banking" is to banking.

From: Qie Niangao And SL "gambling" is to gambling exactly as SL "banking" is to banking. Well... SL banking wasn't "real" banking. But SL gambling *was* real gambling. So was most SL banking, for that matter ... gambling you'd exit before it collapsed.

When there's a will there's a way Buying the prims makes them chips, like you would find in any casino, Sorry, no good, still Banned. Were I you, I'd also be careful about Suggesting "Way(s) around the Casino Ban" Unless you are also in possession of a foolproof way around an SL Permaban. SL sort of takes a Dim View of people using the Forums to pass on ways to disobey their TOS/CS. Angel.
