How to become group owner after owner has left?

I am the only remaining member of a group that owns some Mainland. Both group owners have left the group. What can I do? I don't have permission to sell the land. Is there a way to become group owner? I am the only member of this group now.

Is the land land that you purchased? The group will be disbanded within 48 hours. If you have the power to invite someone else into the group, do it ASAP to protect the land, if you own it. Secondly, I would contact Linden Lab to put in a support ticket right now. If you are concierge level, use the chat and talk to someone.

Unfortunately, LL will close the group if you're the only member left. Groups must have 2 members at all times to stay open. As far as I know, only the owners can designate you as an owner. If the original owners have left, then there's no way for you to become owner. If you can't invite another AV as member in the next 48 hrs., the group will be disbanded. You can't use the same group name to create a new one, once the group is closed.

If there's nobody you can invite to join the group, quickly make an alt and add them to the group.
Did the owners take their tier with them, as you might find you don't have enough tier for the land owned by the group? You can check this in the 'info' section of the group.

It's strange, when I try to leave my own group, I get an error message stating that it's not possible for the last owner to leave the group :s.

I'm pretty sure that's the case. Jochen may mean that the owners have quit SL but their avatars are still there.

In which case the group won't be disbanded because there's still technically two or more people that are members. And I'm not sure that support is going to be able to do anything, either. After all, what if the group owners were to log in the day after LL disbands the group and allows the OP to sell the group's land?

But Jochen said two group members had left the group, not SL.
As he said he is the sole remaining member, which means the group will be dissolved. He either needs to find a new meber or find a way to pull out (his) land.

I put a support ticket yesterday, but they havent looked at it yet.
Well the group still exists.
The land is owned by the group, and I had just rented some land from them (Mainland!).
Now both owners have left the group, and I am the only member left. I can't invite anyone to the group, and I don't have permission to sell the land.

As a renter, you have no right to the land and no recourse should it get sold or reclaimed by LL in the future. Sorry to hear this happened to you.

If that's the case Jochen, LL will most certainly reposess the land when the group owners' tier runs out. Not a nice prospect for you or any of their other tenants. You'll have to see what happens after governor linden reclaims the land. Chances are your prims will stay in place until the land is resold through the auctions. So with a bit of luck you and any other tenants may end up with a few months rent-free on your land. Something which should give you a bit of breathing space while you shop around for a new patch of land to rent.

in either case, just to be safe, I wouldn't leave any no-copy items laying about on the land...

If you are only renting, why would you be trying to sell someone else's land? It's not yours to sell.

If you are concerned about your rental, why not message the landowner and ask what is going on? I assume you need the group active to place objects on the property. Is the land deeded to the group or just set to it? If deeded, then they are likely to lose the land themselves.

Have they decided to change the group name and forgot to add you and the parcel you are on to the new group?

The only way you will find out your position is to contact them.

Isn't it impossible for a group owner to leave the group without appointing a new owner since the whole group overhaul?

Maybe it was the land owner and his alt and his account suspended? Would that wipe them from the group?

They'd still show as being in the group on their profiles, but wouldn't be members of the actual group itself anymore until they're reinstated (which might be a mess because it would have disbanded by then  ).

To the OP: can you still find either of them using Search / People? If not their accounts were suspended (usually 1-3 days I think? :o) or banned.

I think after the owners have left the group, they wont be able to rejoin that group. and when the tier runs out, or the group gets disbanded then the land would go to LL...

That's how it's supposed to work. I had a group that was just me as owner and one other person who hasn't logged into SL in over a year. When I tried to leave, it wouldn't let me unless I designated the other avatar as the new owner. Since I wanted the group gone, I ended up ejecting her from it and then quitting it myself.

Someone getting stranded as the lone member of the group without becoming the owner must be experiencing a bug.

Well, now almost 72 hours are over but the group hasn't been disbanded yet (does that happen automatically?)
Could it be possible that the owners account got suspended and he is still in the group, but invisible? I don't see any other members beside me in the group...

You haven't explained the situation with the land. Did you purchase it? Did you contribute tier? Who is paying for it? Who should own it after the group disbands?

I shouldn't think so, group owners are always visible even to non-members. Strange one this. Sorry I can't be more help

Actually, that's definitely a possibility. Strange, but possible.

What happened to the land?

No I didn't purchase it, I simply rented it from them. They have to pay for the land.
I didn't contribute tier to the group.
I was going to ask them if they would sell the land to me too, but they don't answer.

The land is in Tigerclaw (a 4096 parcel)
