I stopped using verbal gestures for the most part. I got tired of sounding like a prefab idiot when I do a good enough job of sounding like a regular idiot all by myself.

I also hate rezzing into a zone.. on top of someone else, who in turn gets mad because they couldn't move an inch off the TP landing zone...

I was at a concert a while ago and I had to feel sorry for this woman - at the end of a song she tried to do the polite thing of putting a / in front of "thankyou" so the typing sound didn't disturb, but it unfortunately set off a huge long Gorean speech about how she thanked her master for acknowledging her existence, and how she was not worthy or something, and it went on, and on, and on for about 5 minutes.

If avatars could blush ...

THAT is the stuff I stick around SL for. :)

Turn off particles. That will also stop the poofers. You'll lose a lot of other effects though. Which if you're in a big group of avis probably isn't a bad thing. Reducing graphic lag helps with the eyes too.

I hate bling to the point where if a piece of jewelry has a script containing it, I will remove the script whenever possible.

Me too. If the bling can't be turned off, I move on, looking for something else.

This is slightly off-topic, but is there any point to trying to optimize the Max. Particle Count? Some number which will allow me to see maybe one, reasonably used poofer, in low crowd situations, but will spare me from poofer spam in high crowd situations, without having to adjust my settings every time I move from place to place?

Those bloody typed pictures or whatever they're called. They are evil. In Herzog's Utopian Second Life, anyone daring to unleash one of those things would receive a minor electric shock through their keyboard. Further transgressions would result in shocks of increasing potency, with the fifth such transgression zapping the perpetrator unconscious and exploding their PC.

Love it!!!!

Oh dear.

That reminds me of a situation that happened years ago on IRC on a Gorean channel. A new slave girl...sooo wanting to be found pleasing...hit the button that set off ";(slave) slaps (fairly strict Master type) with a trout." You could almost "hear" breath being held (even in a chat environment). The poor girl was mortified. Fortunately the strict Master type thought it was hilarious. ;)
