Trout, you should be a writer....your stories are priceless :)

I just ripped off Saving Private Ryan.

I wish I were a writer. I would love to be a novelist. But the costs are too great. I just couldn't afford it, and while I write great short posts, who knows if I could pull of an entire book? Maybe if I ever grow up, I'll buckle down and write something.

you are younger than me!!
I would have guessed you to be my age or a little older

heh

I would have, too! Maybe I farted up the math. I'm notoriously bad at math. At any rate, I'm not over 60, so I needed something to give me a big number. I went with dog years. I think Venusian years would have worked as well, but I would have had to Google them to figure out how long a Venusian year is, and it's Friday. I don't have the gumption.

Where's the skins?
06-13-2008 16:46
As a nearly 60 person, I want to know where to get skins that look over 30. There are plenty of punky male skins with wild hair and 5 o'clock shadow, or have that Greek god look. And lots of variations on a big-boobed Barbie for women. I would like to look more how I feel. (which is less than 60, but certainly over 30)

Dark Dhrama has some in Avatar island that look quite elderly.
I don't know about in the 40 to 50 ish range though.
I guess you would have to get customized ones.

I know - and he wants us to call him in the Czech Republic to talk it over. WTF. What the hell are the international calling rates from the US (for me) to Eastern Europe? All to talk to a guy who, by his post, only speaks broken English, about his survey that I'm taking for free? That's a stretch even for the survey people.

I can't help but wonder, with the number of surveys we see here, if it isn't some sort of elaborate RP that we don't know about. There can't be this many knuckleheads out there who honestly believe this sort of survey can give any sort of legitimate results, can there? This all has to be a joke.

Pablo Picasso... :)

My rl brother spends a lot of his time in-world wearing what he calls his Jackson Pollock look: those great paint-spotted pants and shoes (freebies at Gnubie I think), and a white tee. Dressed thus, he doesn't get hit on, which he thinks is hilarious, considering he does when he wears the lovely Blaze tux and shoes I took him to buy. (Yes, even in sl, a girl has to take her brother shopping...) Love ever enters but through the eyes...

Who cares lol !

Just another chance for a chin wag about the good old days hee hee. I am 53 going on 20, and dont care who knows. I am getting online diabetes from so much eye candy.

Re the skins etc, I think an age slider would be a neat idea ... so I could get a saggy beer belly to flop over my shorts !

A 60+ griefer! Talk about cantankerous!

Think it's bad now wait till everyone on the Forum is over 60, retired and can spend all day halfdozing at the keyboard, and trying to ranting about the good old days of Windlight and 2D monitors, propped on our skybox porches in Eventide retirement sim taking potshots with missfunctioning orbit weapons at the young ones who make fun of us for cybering with less than a direct mental meld link interface :)

When I was that age, we didnt use AOs or spend our time posing in other people's yards. We walked, damnit, with that herky-jerky walk like a red-haired stepchild with a broomhandle up his butt. All the way to school, with no prim shoes, uphill both ways, all winter long! And we were damn proud to do it!

Yeah and we had to walk uphill ruthed against Havok1, Teleport was a priveldge for only Premiums account holders ..................
We had to swim to get to islands estates ..................
And prims only came in 1m cubes, we had to use a primsaw to cut them to size or primwelding to join them or riveted plates.

266 in dog years. Ask me anything. Wait. let me put my good teeth in and take my medicine. Ok, shoot, Sonny. What do you want to know? Want to hear how I singlehandedly destroyed the evil forces of Tegg Bode in the epic battle of Sansaria during SLWWII? Ahhh. The Big One! We were soldiers back then. A Band of Brothers. I marched across the Southwestern snowfields to meet up with the 101st Airborne troops dropped off by Colonel Connolly. We lost some good men. When we met up with Captain Torok and rendevoused with the lost Angelus Platoon, we knew we had the ability to take them straight ahead, but instead, General Shang moved the forces of Caledon up the middle and sent our ragtag band of misfits around the side to flank. That man was a military genius. They even named a library after him. We crushed them on the shores as they landed and left it to our ally, Commander Herzog to finish quelling the invasion.

Yep. Those were the days. That was 60 years ago. I can't remember anything since. But that's because I drink a lot. I'm on my fifth liver.

LOL nice one, but isn't this really just an exaduration on the day we all wagged school together and went to the picture theatre.............

I think the regular sliders will do the trick.

Case in point - I was at a class last night and a male avatar arrived. The avatar was overweight with a belly hanging out. Ok...I'm all for more realistic looking avatars and BBW, etc. However, the kicker with this guy was that he was wearing a golf-shirt type top and...

...briefs. That's it...plain white briefs. It wasn't a pretty sight.

~ ~ ~

As for age, this is an avatar roleplaying the Okasan of a Japanese teahouse. I would think aging on the face was accomplished with sliders.

Yes, apparently according to someone who knows him in RL, he's more than a little senile.

I am just amazed at people over 60 being called geezer, elderly etc. I am 26, so you guys in your 40's could certainly be on my "geezer" bandwagon if I had one.

I am partnered with a man over 60, who is a wonderful person, is an IT guy irl and works with scripting and animation here in SL and if you were to talk to him you would never guess his age.

Can't really help with the skins but I did do a series of Male Executive shapes with a little middle-aged spread. I felt there was a gap in the market there. Heh.

Sliders?
06-14-2008 16:45
I don't seem to get much effect from the 'face wrinkles' slider, and I think I read that is a known bug. The 'puffy eyes' and 'jowls' ones seem to work so I'll play with those for a while.

I own a SIM and have rented to several seniors, between ages og 50 - 80 ....Most have a disability condition. The all have stated to me that Second Life has been one of the greatest hobbies they ever had. One of them passed recently and his wife told me that he wanted Second Life to be his last hobby.

Well stated, Fand :)

It's not the "number" - it's the person. I look at some of my peers and think, dang we're a good looking group (Goldie Hawn, Jane Seymour, Diane Keaton, Kim Cattrall (Samantha in "Sex and the City";), etc. - these were just ones off the top of my head).

I have the flip side of your situation, Fand. I am significantly older than my SL partner, but when we met (and until I told him otherwise) he thought I was his age or younger. And he seems much more mature to me than his chronological age.

My grandmother rode rollercoasters with 360 degree loops well into her 70's.
