From: Bree Giffen What takes up a lot of your time in SL? If someone were to look over your shoulder to see what SL is like what would they most likely see you doing? Your mama! I am so very bad.

Me typing as fast as possible into IM's, a new one anywhere from 10 seconds to a few minutes apart.
Notecards, IM windows cluttering the screen, with new notes and textures slapping themselves down at random. 3d world behind all that somewhere. Oh, and I got a black cat either by my right hand (I'm left handed) or in my lap, and a glass of California cabernet sauvignon or chardonnay next the cat's spot on the desk.

They would see the screen taken up by the build window and a couple scripts and the texture picker and my inventory window with a little space in the middle zoomed in on a pile of prims that won't behave.

Lately, 2-5 scantily clad women on a pirate ship, 1 standing the others kneeling. Could look a bit odd =P (My Domina and sisters) If they're offline or I've a commission, they'd see me either flying around beautiful sims, or standing in a half purple grid half stone box making stuffed animals, gothic random things, houses, or just about anything

Depends on what I am doing. If I am doing textures and anyone came upon me while in Second Life I look like I was zombified sitting or meditating in a trance or zoomed in objects as close as possible that I am working on. But if they were looking over my shoulder they see me painting layers and uploading, cursing at Second Life's error messages while trying to upload textures or pondering stuff in Adobe in between short breaks iming friends or reading the forum. At other times they see me talking, hanging or building with friends and teleporting to different spots that are really gray for long time.

They'd probably either see: Vast expanses of default plywood material on some build or other I don't really have the focus or energy to finish - or: The search screen up with me trying in vain to find something to do that's within my comfort zone. On very, very rare occassions they may see me actually go be with other people at the Cartel Hangout or recently at Madhu's, if only to be reassured someone is still out there. I'm making SL sound horrible, but it's not. That's just my world, my imagination. I think the things I'm truely interested in aren't big draws in either RL or SL. But I'm cool with that. I still enjoy the experience very much.

Two open inventory windows with my avatar standing between them, possibly wearing parts of three different outfits or buried under a pile of textures we're sorting. Glimpses of my sky platform or skybox around the bottom of the screen. Me dancing and greeting every avatar who wanders in, even when I'm not working. Even when I'm not at the club where I work. One day I'm going to start doing it in RL and get in trouble. The land search window set to Mainland/1024 as I ponder the implications of my tax stimulus check and whether going Premium constitutes stimulating the economy... An orange tabby cat who wants to either lie on my wrists while I'm typing, sit in front of my mouse while I'm clicking, or be held when I want to use either hand to do anything. Oh, and a cup of coffee.

One day I'm going to start doing it in RL and get in trouble. LOL - I hear ya, Nic I do that too - greeting each avatar that enters a club we're at on the more rare occasions now when we go out dancing. Even if I don't know the people. (More so at smaller, "family" type clubs - I certainly don't do that at the Avilion ballroom. Being in a greeting position at an SL club = conditioned response OTOH, I'm very outgoing RL and tend to strike up conversations with people standing in grocery lines and elevators, so maybe my SL is just mirroring RL. /derailment off

Hm. You'd probably see trees, grasses, and flowers moving around. Planters being adjusted and filled, marsh grasses being tweaked. You'd see an owl and a woodpecker in an apple tree, a horse grazing (depending on whether or not Lindal was around to holler at me about prims... NO, I'm not using the flower rezzers any more ) Off to one side, several photowalls being updated. Oh, and an ofuro tub, usually gently steaming... then my toes and hopefully those of my partner in the water at the beach...
