I've had a riverboat in SLX for about 2 weeks now with all the promotional features they have. It's getting tons of views but no sales :(

What type of boat do you prefer? Sailboat, pirate ship, yacht, drivable/stationary?

I suppose there are not a lot of rivers in Second Life :)

A 51' Morgan - Center Cockpit Ketch with ice maker and seperate beer cooler.

Oh you mean SL. In that case. The same thing with a phantom keel that can't run aground in shallow water.

Definitely usable versus decorative. I'm a small avvie, so I prefer smaller boats f'r myself. I usually either Snaptick Laxness' wonderful Kayak, or a customized "Flying Tako" named "Greenie." I also recently was given a cool log to pilot down river.

My preference would be a sail boat for the occasional outing. One large enough to comfortably have a few friends aboard and not have trouble panning your camera.

As far as a home location, a nice yacht with at least two decks and ample rooms for private living quarters, additional guest cabins along with areas for entertainment. All cabins should be a decent size as well.

But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

It looks like more people prefer drivable boats over stationary boats for use as a home or event venue.

I prefer a smaller, sailable sailboat. The bigger boats are too bulky and more prone to maritime disasters when you cross sims. If I were going to live on a boat, I'd want a bigger one that I could move around on more and decorate, entertain, etc. and a stationary one would be better for me in that case. I'd like to check out your riverboat, Cunundrum. Can you send me a LM or is it easy to find in search?

I have an old wooden leaky fishing boat that I just love. I also love my kayak, I am not into it for speed, just a nice time on the water

I would guess that a live-in boat would appeal to a very specific SL consumer. They'd have to be a land-owner but not a landlubber. I have mostly sailboats that you sail around.

If you do a search in SLX it "should" be at the top of the list for riverboat.

In game the list of riverboats is short and I'm easy to find, there is also a link in my Picks.

I've always hated to be landlocked but water plots and beach land are usually more expensive. I don't know if I even own a drivable boat. I have several pirate ships and sailboats but they are all stationary.

I have to agree about a stationary boat, specifically talking about the larger ones.

If I was in the market for more land, or sold off some that I currently have, at this point I would definitely look for a large water plot for a yacht as a residence. It would be a nice change.

My friend Robin has regaled me with stories of Neverland. I wish I'd seen it.

Neverland would be so cool to recreate..hmmm... although would I be setting myself up for a lawsuit? :)

Off the top of my head, I think my 1/4 sim does resemble the huck fin ride at Disneyland, I wonder if I can replace the gondola tour I have with a makeshift raft!

Personally I don't find boats useful in SL, due to all the problems with sim crossings.

in Havoc 4 SIM crossing is doable now, have you tried yet, well I have fun with a spaceship now, I can do about 20 SIM crossings with little bumps and no unseating.

Is a sim crossing different in a boat than a balloon? I've done tons of sim crossings in a hot air balloon with no problem.

I just purchased my first sailboat on SLX a few nights ago. After searching for water sims that were somewhat vacant (so I could learn how to use it without getting in the way of others) I then ran into the problem of no build/no object entry and could not find a place to rezz it. Finally finding a place to rezz it, when I got in and raised the sails the boat tipped over on its side and I almost drowned. Is this a Havok 4 thing? Maybe I bought a crappy boat? Am I getting too off topic from what the OP was asking? If so, I apologize.
