There is only one rule - the golden rule. Do as Ordinal would do, in every circumstance.

have totally lost touch with reality and no sense of humor

I certainly would hope they'd be a troll and be a member of the clique. :D

Seriously, though, I think any job description is going to be more subjective than objective so it's a toughie. Here's my criteria:

1. Post in the forums a minimum of 6 months
2. Has not been inflammatory, in general, in their posts
3. Has shown an ability to get their point across in a fair objective manner
4. Preferably has experience in other forums, but not required

My HR experience makes me hate all of the ones I listed except #4, but those are the best I can come up with for now.

5) Is a masochist

Seriously- basically you'd be setting yourself up s a target for everyone to gripe about while your juggling dozens of different users and their styles.

Not to mention you might get one, two, or even a handful who make it their personal mission to bring you down. (yeah YOU Joshua and Malachi )

This is an excellent question, and timely.

But it makes me realize just how much I miss Strife.

I would not wish to attempt to do it. (Moderator)

It would call for the judgement of kings together with a passion for SL, and a degree of detachment from the company line (Linden Labs

Perhaps a retired Judge (UK, US, EU) would be a good solution, together with a job role from Linden Labs guaranteeing a degree of independence.

Also I think the time may have come to put such a job on some type of an earning basis.

By the way, what happened to Strife?

(By way of self-interest my interest in Linden Labs is that of finance and financial services in virtual worlds. For recreation I play WoW, the world of SL holds relatively few attractions for me, although I have made one or two friends here)

Strife is taking a well earned break from his resmod duties :) Aki Linden has taken over the role but it seems she has a (very) light touch with locking etc.

I would consider it, but I don't think I could do it. I haven't got the detachment needed and I would regret losing the fun. I wouldn't be able to post like I do and I doubt I could be professional about it. I haven't been in the forums or SL long enough. Plus I would feel horrible about locking thread etc if peeps are having fun. Plus I have no experience. I guess it was never meant to be lol. I will leave it for those who know what they are doing.

Considering most if not all questions are answered within the first two pages I think having threads that automatically lock on the third would largely eliminate a resmod. I may be wrong but there's a thread here that has grown another 11 pages since I was last here. If I wanted to read a novel I have one in my cupboard.

Is that possible? That would be a great idea.

I actually own and run a forum. Plus I moderate on two other forums.

This forum would be easy to moderate compared to my others. Seriously...
