Who here actually uses Photoshop for graphics creation and editing or do you use something else? It doesn't matter which version. I am just wondering and taking a basic poll to see what the general results will be.

Thanks!

I use PS for clothing n such, only because of transparencies (never figured out if I could do the same thing in PSP, so, yea) I use PSP for photo work and manipulations because I have used PSP forever and know a buncha tricks I am too lazy to relearn on PS. :)

I have Photoshop...7, I think, and PhotoShop Elements, and Gimp. I use Elements more often than anything else though.

I use PS Elements exclusively ..... often times I'll grab plug-ins from falmingpear.com to use for the 30 day trial.... they have some fantastic filters~! Skin and clothing I am still sadly, not too good at. But for editing pics PS is a blast.

Photoshop. I've not tried anything else, but then I haven't felt the need to.

Thanks for the link! But when I went to it, it wasn't there. I Googled it and I think you meant flamingpear.com ;)

Photoshop only...It's pretty much always open on my computer with some kind of project going. I know a lot of people use GIMP, I've never even really looked at it...is it an alternative to PS, or does it offer things photoshop doesn't? I could probably do a little search in the Texturing forums and answer that myself.

I have only used Photoshop to convert .tga files to .jpg files (snapshots taken in world save as .tga when you then save them to your computer).

Saving directly to computer right when you take a snapshot saves as .bmp on my computer (and I use basic Paint to convert to .jpg) and saving to SL and then much later (or some point later) saving that in SL snapshot to your computer harddrive saves the picture as a .tga (and there you have to individually open each picture, go to the first menu at the top of the screen and "save as texture";). At least this is what I have found. :)

She might be thinking about savign a texture to harddrive. That does come down as .tga. For awhile there I had snapshots to disk coming down as j2k which was interesting as my version of CS2 wouldnt open them without a plugin. Getting CS3 tomorroww WOO HOO!

When you save snaps saved inside Second Life, you are saving them as textures ("Save as texture";) to get that snapshot to your computer harddrive. :) On my system that comes to me as a .tga file. I've tried to change it, but it always comes to me as a .tga file.

The j2k, or something like that, is caused by selecting "compress pictures" in the client drop down menu. At least, that is what I've found :)

For most of the last two years, Photoshop 7 on my Mac was my mainstay, and I also used DAZ|Studio for creating 3D effects. I just recently had to upgrade to Photoshop CS3, bacause my mew Mac, with OS X 10.5.1 (Leopard) was incompatable with any earlier release of Photoshop.
