From: RockAndRoll Michigan <snip> If the grid structure as a whole can't handle these things then wouldn't it be better for promoting a "more predictable" experience like they're raving about with their wonderful news regarding adult content, to stop having these huge events? I had not made this correlation- however, I agree that the lag has been rther intolerable regardless of where I am lately.

From: Dnali Anabuki I would be interested in the as well. Could you tell me where to find this info inworld in a non laggy situation? I spoke to the Virtual Ability board president Gentle Heron inworld last night (she gave the presentation at the Land Expo yesterday) and because someone asked me, here on the forums, she will provide the information to me in a format I can pass out to anyone interested. Now with you asking, there are 2! That's great! If you just want to see our 'example' of accessible builds, without the presentation of course our model is our orientation sim, Virtual Ability Island. We are an open gateway for disabled newbies, and have a training course, specifically targeted to people who have different kinds of challenges on the other end of the computer. Sure, anyone can walk, fly, run, whatever in SL but it's the typist who has to learn to navigate, or be provided with information on alternative ways to enhance the avatar's ability. The avatar can only do what the typist can provide the skills for, so our builds help with these issues. Anyway, off my soapbox, thanks for asking. Please do visit our orientation island and I will send you the presentation inworld, also to the other person who asked me, here, as soon as I have it. If you don't want to just show up at the land expo and wander around, I will also send you a direct LM to our exhibit there, when I get inworld this evening.

I know of someone who went to the presentation and was going to track them down and ask for the chat history, but this would be a lot better I don't suppose you've ever considered making the presentation some kind of interactive jobbie on your sim? A bit like Qie Niango did with the verification thing? When I build I take into account viewer limitations i.e tall walls and lots of space for cameras and make landing points away from the main bulk of the shop textures to give them time to rez before the av makes it inside, but I'd never considered the human aspect of controlling the av. I've been around far too many years to count and am in theory able bodied and I still can't walk or fly properly! (you should see me walking up stairs, I usually fall off) so anything that helps will possibly help us all

I already saved you over from yesterday, lol. Our orientation course on Virtual Ability Island, is already an 'interactive jobbie', and this presentation is really based on our success there. For example, we have a really huge (HUGE!) area that is caged, to practice flying. Disabled new people feel more secure in that enclosed place even though it's so big, they feel safer as they learn to navigate while flying, and how the controls work and all. Everything in the presentation, is represented, in an interactive way on our orientation sim. We have 2 other sims, but that one is really the star. Thanks again for your interest, I'm always thrilled when anyone is interested!

I was thinking of showing up "just because" ~ but have been really busy inworld lately. And most people going to the land expo have pretty much heard of Caledon anyway, I figure. Consider my lack of participation as lag improvement effort! Not to be flip about it though; I think it's a great idea to have this kind of thing. It's nice that estate owners that rent aren't considered the devil, sometimes. Summers are tough: the SL birthday thing, RFL, now the land expo... unless you are standing around without much to do, there's no way to do it all. We missed our SL6B application but luckily Carl of NCI is gonna share some of the NCI space with us. If anything is a 'must do' it's RFL, then all the rest.

If I were a creator of castles or moon bases I'd be fairly cranky about LL cutting in on my business.

I visited the Virtual Ability parcel yesterday. What a great display! As a builder I heartily agree with the accesability suggestions offered for consideration.

From: Blot Brickworks I did not realize that you could buy those items. Are LL going into business against their own customers? To an extent. The 4 sims surrounding the North half of the Land Expo, including Moonbase, The Theatre, and Baronial Castle (I thibnk the other one is "Conference Center" are pre-built sims that LL plans to start selling, with all content as displayed there at the expo.

I just checked out the castle and the others .It will be great to find out the cost. Will they throw the buildings in for free and also what permissions they will give. It seems LL is on another change of tack.
