Have YOU ever killed someone in SL?

LOL, I took my SL BFF skydiving with me a few weeks ago I gave her a parachute, and told her how it works. We went up in my plane to 2000m, counted to three and jumped!! I lost site of her for a few seconds and then I saw her rocket past me towards the ground! SPLAT!!!! I felt so horrible about it, but we both got a good laugh out of it!

Nope. I try very hard to avoid damage-enabled areas in SL. I've never killed any other SL Player, nor have I been killed.

I have a few weapons that *could* kill, because they are integrated with my Mysti-Tool. But I have never used them, and don't intent to.

I'm amazed no-one made that joke before I did.

Outside RP I’ve had lots of fun with my psiTEC and other “tools”, but that’s mostly been at the weapons testing sandbox.

I opened fire on Oryx once. I think we were working on the Hangout project at the time. She asked me about Mumfuzz's account balance and I told her it was mine and she'd never take me alive - pulled out a pistol and let the lead rain down! I thought it was hilarious. She was mildly annoyed. It wasn't a damage enabled area, so there was no harm done. Other than playing in the I Am Legend sim, where it's part of the game, that's the only time I've ever attempted SL homicide.

That's the way I've kicked the bucket most in SL. A small group of friends used to (couple of years ago) have base jumping competitions - jumping off of buildings in damaged enabled sims, and the av who pulled their 'chute' last while remaining alive was the winner. One day I plan to grow up.

I got a SL gun for defence at my SL home and my BF said I could shoot him.. I aimed for his shoulder..( I just cold not kill him omg) And then I think I killed him with another option... SO I'm not sure if I have or not..

I have never died on SL that I am aware of.. Although I did TP into a place once and when I rezzed there was this dude with a big gun aimed right at my face. I TPed out before I found out what being dead on SL was like.

Sorry if this question sounds dense. But what happens to the avatar if you are killed? is it end of game or are you just teleported back home?

Does la petite mort count? If so, then many many times.

You are teleported home at worst. You can't be actually killed. There are w few non-recreational weapons that will orbit you - basically launch you into outer space or deform your avatart and make it look weird. A few set you on fire or stick you in a cage. In those situations, teleport home and they will likely be cured. If not, you have to log out and log back in and that fixes it. If someone uses those weapons against you without your permission, file an Abuse Report (AR) against them. It violates the terms of service.

I must admit I've lost a few passengers from the Huey...can't say what their final fate was.

Oh crap - I didn't think of that. The deaths from the biplane are many. Does it count as one kill if I killed the same person multiple times? Sorry Lindal, Lexxi, Oryx, Jezabell, ummm...and all those buried in the tomb of the unknown passenger. Jeez. Every time I see Oryx in world, I attempt to kill her. Why is that? Except the one time I was Mumfuzz, when I tried every newbie pick up line I could think of - which, in and of itself was, I am sure, like a slow death for her. Hysterically funny to me, but still...

I checked the spelling before I posted. I found it in both spellings. Without the "e" seemed to be the most common. So that was the one I used.

Yeah, but it also gave me the opportunity to make the "Mort" joke. The oppossum one was funnier. It's two one-liners for the price of one on Wednesdays!

I was afraid to read some of the posts in here so I zoomed to the bottom real fast, now to answer as honestly as I know how.

Never in RL and never in SL, and I plan on keeping it that way...I actually hate violence.

I keep a light saber for emergencies only...Like when it turns midnight all of a sudden and force sun>noon gets stuck and doesn’t work.

i'v killed millions of zombies (zombie rezzer, best 900L ever spent) but as for killing other av's out of role play only a couple of land bots that every now and then pop up on my groups void sims, usually they just get freeze, orbit, ban but i few times i'v shot them with a shotgun on damage land to send them back home. good times

Okay, so I'm a newbie here (hit one month a few days ago) and I'm interested in this whole killing thing. Not the act itself but what happens to your avatar when you are killed. Do you lose everything and have to start over?

^ post 36. You tp home if killed or, if attacked by griefer tools, have to log out and log back in. You don't lose stuff and you can't actually die. The griefing is AR-able.

No. You get teleported home and have to make your way back to get your vengeance. Or simply shrug and have a cold glass of lemonade, depending on your mood.

I've killed my friends and business partners. We were all wearing our Collider Death gadgets, bumping into each other, falling down and dying like flies. If flies giggle while typing things like "aieee!" and "arrghhh..."

I've swung my CSI katana a bit against imaginary targets in practice.

Oh, yes...and I might possibly have run over a group of avatars in a sandbox while trying to figure out the controls of a freebie spaceship. But that wasn't on purpose.

I'm such a nebbish. I really need to get out and slay more.

I discovered while cleaning inventory this freebie called, I think, Man. I rezzed it, and it looks like a very crude avatar. When I touched it a little health meter came up and he began to lose % points every time I touched him, like I was punching! WOOT!

So I kept doing it until he exploded, littering the ground with blood and discrete prim pieces of himself.

In the course of cleaning up I deleted a section of my sky platform, which I replaced and now it doesn't retexture with the rest. Grr.

Murder doesn't pay.

As a regular in the linden Weapons Testing sim, I can say that no, not once, have I ever hit anyone with scripted objects, blitzes, orbiters, pushers, nor have I stuck massive swarms of followers on people, nor caused endless deform loops on hapless clickers. Never have I played loud sounds or used particles.
