I sent in a support ticket over the weekend, thought for suer I wouldn't hear anything back until way into this week..nope, I got a response that same night, and it was NOT an auto response letter!! They weren't able to fix my problem right away, but that's ok.. they responded quickly.. I'm happy.

Hi Kaimi! Are you my Kaimi from Diegoland? Well, the whole sim is water except for about 30 meters of beach, and it is soooo beautiful, especially with Windlight on. I thought, what the hey! Give it a shot. Jack Linden is head of land maintenance, so I IM'd him. Yesterday! This is what I sent: From: someone Hi Jack, I own some oceanview property in Tipaskan 235,158, and there is a protected small beach between it and the water. The entire sim (Kokyanwuit) is mostly water and protected of course. I love to sail, and now with the beauty of Windlight, I am aching to sail in front of my property. Is it possible to enable Build and auto return to Kokyanwuti? Having been in SL for just over a year now, I can see the possible headaches that might be created. But it is so beautiful here, and I think a few boats transversing the sparkeling ocean would be fantastic. I would promise to police it and if it became a problem, I would request it removed. Thanks Jack, Yrrek Gran That was it. Now I am sailing, jetskiing, and getting sent into orbit because I tend to get out of control, LOL! Having a great time!

From: Yrrek Gran Are you my Kaimi from Diegoland? None other. Sailing the windlight sea sounds just lovely. It makes the view from my veranda pretty nice I must say.

Yes, I guess it was time for a pro-Linden thread to appear. After all it's been about what? Two years now since the first one came about?
Try telling this to all the folks who are totally frustrated by Linden's lack of effort in fixing SL the way it should be. Repairing the many, many issues that are broken and haven't been repaired and repaired correctly is what's really important here, everything else is secondary by a longshot.

I put in a support ticket yesterday expecting it to take a long time due to the US holidays and it was replied to (not just an auto response) and sorted in an hour. It was my first support request and was very happy with the speed and response

And just in the last few days the Thread Subscription Instant Notification has suddenly started working for me again for the first time in about 9 months.

Just a couple days ago, I was very surprised at the speed of a LL response to my AR. In just a few hours, it was responded to and handled. I do not expect that every time, but man, that sure was awesome!

Double Standard.
11-28-2007 03:20
Why hasn't this thread been locked yet? They have over a dozen on the first page alone locked already? Because a few are praising Lindens?
This thread isn't part of what this forum is for either. Yet, it continues? Why no censor here?
Always a double standard, isn't this right?

Always a double standard, isn't this right? Ricardo, the role of forum moderator is actually quite difficult, and deciding which threads to lock is often quite hard. Apart from anything else, the moderators cannot be online 24 hours a day and cannot immediately spot threads and lock them if they are inappropriate. You might think that there are double standards at work, but I seriously doubt it, I do not believe for one instant that a thread would get locked unless the moderator thought there was reasonably justifiable grounds to do so.

Always a double standard, isn't this right? LL are a business. If, hypothetically, the LL-praise were the reason for this thread not being locked - so what? I'd do the same if it were my business. LL aren't here to be fair, they're here to turn a fat profit, and there's nothing wrong with that.

To answer your unwritten question. Yes I do love the Lindens and what all of them have given to us. I cannot imagine in my blonde mind having to do the job that they do. I for one don't have a clue of the problems that are thrown at them and how in the world they sort threw them.
One more time, hats off, thumbs up to the Lindens for putting a smile on my face every day. A little advertising never hurt anyone.

Oh, yes, you're right. I also see the praise given when people write in frustrated and angry they can't stay in SL due to technical difficulties. Like constantly crashing or not being able to build because certain important issues haven't been addressed in a timely manner. As well as many other issues that remain either unresolved or have yet been taken care of.
Some of these same people now gloating here have written in anger or/and upset at one time or another. Or have been critical at some point or other. Now, all of a sudden it changes?
What could I of been thinking?
I'm aware it's a difficult job and they've come along way. And there's nothing out like Sl. But don't act like it's all peaches and cream, it's not. And yes, moderating is a judgement call but keep it the same for everything. Let's be fair and call it like it really is.
