Ok I hope someone out there can guide me on this one. I created a sl acct under a certain name. The acct was never ACTIVATED. I called LL after a horrific happening in world lastnight with an avatar that had the very name of the acct that i had created.
According to Michael at LL customer service. LL will reclaim a name after 4 days if the acct is never verified. He did ask me to verify my email address that I used to create the acct. The password question. My real life birthdate and the date I created the acct.
He did infact say that no, none of the information I gave him is what is registered to that acct.
Due to this incident I need to point someone to something that says LL will reclaim the name if the acct is NOT activated in a certain amount of time. I have been all over the TSO and can't find it. He could not either.
Anyone have any clue??? I reallllllly need help with this one.

Did you get account notification after you made the account saying to click here to confirm the account name in your email to activate the account? You should have gotten that very first done that to activate the account.

I'm not sure , but isn't it in the activation email you are sent after you submit your information?

From: Brenda Connolly I'm not sure , but isn't it in the activation email you are sent after you submit your information? Yeap usually is but if for some reason you don't receive and just login in not sure what would happen I never done it that way...One would assume your new account name isn't activated if you didn't click the confirmation information.

Just looking at the confirmation / activation email for an account I created recently. There is no mention at all of a 4 day time limit.

I did receive the email that the account was created. But I never activated it. What I am looking for is somewhere that says LL reclaims the avatar name after a certain period of time for someone else to use. According to Michael at LL, its 4 days but he couldnt tell me where exactly it is in the TSO and my eyes are going buggy from reading the dern thing.

Sorry, but I don't understand why this matters...what's the issue exactly?

Well, I found nothing pertaining to it, in either the knowledge base or the ToS. *shrugs* It might just be one of those things that's hidden in the Linden Handbook and isn't visible, because they assume that everyone who creates an account will activate it.

You need to activate the account with link in the email. Is it too late? Hope you didn't buy too much. Just create another and confirm this time if it's too late. They should have told you what to do it is their job. Grr.

Ah, trust...or the lack thereof.
Logs of your Live Chats and ticket history are saved in the Support area...why not show your partner that?

I do not want to activate this acct. someone else already has. and she is a really nice person. its just causing havoic for her and for i. you would think, that if you dont activate after a certain time they would send you an email that says something like *hey we saw you joined but never activated why not?* sort of a follow up thing *shrugs*

Well, there is one way, and that's to talk to the avatar, with him standing beside you at the monitor. I'm not having any luck on searching. Might I suggest having him stand there while you have another chat with a Linden in help? Or show him the support ticket? If he doesn't believe that, then...

Wouldn't want LL to spoil their reputation now would you?

If he doesn't believe that, then... That would be great if he wasnt 1900 miles away right now. he did talk to the person in game. Im beginning to wonder if it is really worth it at this point.

Webcam? Maybe if this other avatar agrees to it, you could all meet up somewhere inworld, and your partner could watch you (IRL) via webcam, typing. Then, when the other avatar replies, your partner will be able to see that you're not typing.
As others have pointed out, though, if he's that suspicious and demanding incontrovertible proof, instead of accepting your word for it, then that's not a good sign :-/

But more or less its to prove to my rl partner that i am not using an alt in game that he is unaware of. your partner should not question it if he trusts you he should just take your word on it especially being it is a RL partner, he should know you well enough to trust you and know you are not lying if he questions it or doesn't trust you, then you need to ask yourself why he doesn't and why you feel the need to prove yourself

Lesson: Create one alt at a time. Validate the email address, log in using that alt, get them off of Orientation/Help Island, and squared away.

'Cause if u have to prove something u r on the down side already. "Sorry this happened to you..." I so do not mean this to sound harsh honest... I know u don't know me and it may seem that way - I really do wish you well.

if you need to prove your self to some one who should be trusting you, tell him to take it or leave it, there are 100000000000001 names in sl and a chance that some one actually has a RL name combination is possible, same as the sane first and last name several times as it isn`t restricted RL either heh
dunno if it`s just funny or sad lol

Dump his ass already. Anyone that's going to make you jump through a bunch of hoops and stress out over something like that isn't worth the effort.
