The other day I Was watching a DVD on my computer, and after closing it I launched SL.

I noticed "orange dots" similar to the ones you have. When I zoomed my camera way in on them, I could see the movie behind them, even though I closed the DVD program.

If you zoom in on the green dots, does it look familiar, or do they just get bigger?

Luckily I caught this post just before I relogged. I took a snapshot to show they look like when I zoom in. Yes, they get bigger.

Here are the dots when I zoom in:: farm2.static.flickr.com/1126/1469608258_251ad456ae_o.jpg
Here are the dots in relation to my avatar:: farm2.static.flickr.com/1342/1469612756_445f51cdf0_o.jpg

I think you'll find this is the braille version of SL, for the visually impaired.

I had this happen to me almost a year ago.... I remeber those stupid dots... I just figured it was SL or my vid card going.... either way it stopped after awhile.... and I can't say why...

if clearing the cache, and resourcing the textures doesn't work.... it's definitely time to check updated drivers for the video card... I couldn't guess to tell you were to go, since there are so many differences and different companies that make updating hell

you did mention one thing though that caught my eye... it doesn't happen right away after getting inworld, but "eventually"... that makes we agree with the people that mentioned the video card possibly overheating.... if a fan is going out it can actually seize and cause MORE heat... I melted right through the back of one once and almost toasted my CPU too... needs to be checked!

Thank you for the suggestion. o.o
I will have to check that out.
So far after clearing my cache, they didn't show back up, but my island was restarted by LL for maintenance or something, so I got logged out and had to afk a while during all that, so I still am not sure if it worked.

Seconded. Having written high speed ram diagnostics in another life, those patterns reminded me of marginal defects on a specific select line likely in the texture buffer.

Swap that graphics card out; probable overload imminent.

thanks for all the suggestions. We have tried something to do with the video card and as soon as SL is a bit more stable I suppose I'll find out if it worked or not.

Similar things happen to me only they look like little computer chips. It happens when my laptop overheats. I also hear "popping" noises.
