Do you have a Human Avatar?

I get asked quite frequently if my tiny hybrid penguin avatar is my usual avatar, and if I use a human avatar. For those who don't use human avatars, what's your typical response to this 'inquiry', and regardless of what avatar you use, do you think human avatars are suppose to be accurate representations of what the person looks like in RL? The way I see it, we're all cartoons living in a virtual fantasy world, and how you wish to represent yourself is part of the fantasy and your imagination is the only limit.

yes, it's collecting dust in the basement.

I never really cared much for the human models, the furry ones are far better personally.

I have many avatars
I usually get asked what kinds I have and can people see them, so I switch through them and give them an avatar show hehe

I don't care what someone's avatar looks like

and no to the "represent our RL selves if we have human avatar"
however if someone wants to do that then I say sure, that is their choice

I mainly prefer human as it is the one I feel most comfortable with

nope, never, the closest i'v been, which is pretty close. was a brief stint of about 2 weeks when i first started as an elven character (this is on my original alt). i originally came into SL to roleplay. after that i was an Ogre (As Crunch, hence the name) for quite some time, i was invited to a 'best in black' event and rather than go in black clothes i decided to buy a black lion avatar. i never looked back from that point and i'v been a furry since. with the lynx in my forum avatar being the way i look 99% of the time.

i have thought about making a human character. often people have asked if i ever will be one. if i did, i think i would just make Crunch look like me in real life as were pretty much the same entity as it is... minus the fur and piracy that is...

Well, I'm usually human, but my badger avatar represents my RL self. Now if you'll excuse me, I need go root in the garden for dinner.

I have a human avatar that I use the vast majority of the time though I do have several others that I use on occasion.

What you choose for an avatar is entirely up to you and should be of no consequence to anyone else.

Does my avatar look like the RL me? Yep, I'm a georgeous 20 something bombshell with a perfect body just like my AV (in my dreams).

The ones that bother me are the "normal" ones. What's with them? I mean, why be so hung up on reality that you can't live out a little fantasy when given the option? (^_^)y

I am human except when i get a bug up my bum to be a dog, which usually only lasts about 1 day.

i have yet to find a cat avatar i would buy. and while i love the neko look, it just doesn't seem to be 'me'... although i do love to wear the grungy clothes.

Immy, surely you must know that for some of us, normal *is* a fantasy.

When I am a dog or a robot, no one asks me if I have a human avatar or cares. I think they get tired of seeing them. The weird response to non-human avatars is people, especially the ladies, are marginally more open. They think if you're a basset hound you are less likely to ask for sex.

I have human alts - they are my Puppet Army. But my main avatar is always a dog. Dogs are far superior. People don't really question me on my choice to be a dog - they just tell me how cute I am and try to take me home. :)

I think a good answer to that question would be, "Sure I do. It's in the Library folder."

I admit, I am usually in human form, but the human form still has little to do with the reality. I mean, I might have been that thin.. back when I was nineteen..

I can't recall ever being asked that, though I am almost always in a furry form. If anyone ever did ask, I suppose I would reply "I have over 80 different avatar forms, there's a few Humans in there, somewhere, but I don't use them all that often."

for me my human avatar is my fantasy, I wish I could look that good in RL

one doesn't have to be non human to be living out a fantasy

to each their own

there are a lot of avatars out there I do not like, nor understand why someone would choose that, but I would not go so far as to say it "bothers" me

meh

I always have a human avatar and I maintain a consistent appearance - i.e. I change clothes, I sometimes have my hair tied up and sometimes loose but only like in RL. The only exception is when I put on a green plastic bear outfit. But it's just an outfit - I'm still there inside it, looking out through the open mouth.

I have a utility alt, with a different name, for testing and group-sitting, which is a small egg-shaped robot. It has a different personality from me....correction:..it has NO personality!

Human or neko most of the time, sometimes furry, but I might also run around as a cat/horse/panda/tiny/potted plant occasionally (the plant more.. skoots forward than runs though).

The few that have seen both my RL and SL face have comented on likeness, but that's all there is.

I'm a human avatar 99.9999% of the time.

I do have a nice furry avatar and a collection of avatars that caught my attention at the time I saw them - usually wore them once or twice - then back in inventory.

As Conifer said - I'm fairly consistent in my avatar in that I have worn the same shape/skin pretty much since I arrived (the skin is very fair), red hair and either blue or green eyes. It is an idealized version of myself (or what I kind of looked like when I was in my 30's - still trying to get the face to be closer to my RL features).

One of the classes I teach is making a unique statement in SL with one's avatar and that is what I see represented on this thread. Whether it's the "ideal" of what one would like to look like RL, a fantasy character, animal, all the way through to the floating sphere avatars I've seen, somehow they all make our own special statement.

Not sure if this is what you meant, but for a quad cat avatar, Nimbus Rau has some AWESOME realistic cat avatars.

I'm 100% human on Second Life though sometimes I dress up as a vegetable (That's a costume not an avatar. I learned about costumes on Welfare Island when it was still in business. The thought of wearing a pizza costume just tickled me pink.). I'm a bit of an oddly shaped human by SL standards, 4'8" and approximately 125lb. I jokingly call my avie: "Li'l fat girl," but "Li'l fat girls" can have lots of fun too!

LMAO

Well....on that note, actually I guess I'm pretty normal cause my avatar is human. I just don't really have any particular fantasy about being anything else and I like how versatile the human forms are between shape and skin and hair and outfits. I chaange too much to be able to hang out in one 'avatar' all the time.

Beyond that, I stick to female because I am female, and I am not really in SL to RP and be anything other than what I am. I do have an avatar that looks like me but I usually don't use her. I've also made all kinds of custom avatars for people who wanted certain celebrity looks (or even themselves in 2 cases) I enjoy the challenge of it. It's just another form of art for me. :D

/me pokes her responders in the nose for daring to take her seriously. =^-^=

While my Loli avatar is much more cartoon character than human, I've lately spent much more time in my tall NekoLoliJailbait shape. That hybrid is much more human in my mind since I don't have any patterns or markings on my skin. (^_^)

Still... My avatar always looks how I feel and my behavior reflects it. It's still very youthful and playful. Anyone who has seen me and how hyper I can be inworld surely knows that. Now... Excuse me while I resist the urge to post more pictures. (^_^)y
