20,480 sq. m. for 900 million (L$900,000,000). Why not just make it an even 1 billion.

Geez

I know that they probably are just fishing with no intention of selling, but then again......they probably go by the mantra that a sucker is born every minute.

Also, why waste all that money on tier fees? Doesn't make sense to me.

Have you checked the $ Linden auction page? There is a parcel of land in Banior Bahoozamoth with the starting price of $490,000 for 1152 m. The auction is closing today at 10:30 SL and NO bids lol.

Not for sale? Can't you just uncheck the 'for sale' box? Is there some benefit to leaving your land for sale at a high price instead of simply not setting it for sale? Aside from getting some sucker to buy it. Can you offset tier fees or something?

It gets the land listed on the for sale page. That's all this action does.

Someone at LL pressed the wrong button. That starting price is a mistake.

Do these people have so much money that they can be wasting it on the tier fees? $125.00/mth on this alone and who knows what else they have out there with outrageous prices.

I'm not sure I understand your reaction here. Aren't there 1000s of apparently unused parcels out there that should be just as perplexing, but just aren't for sale for 900,000,000? I've had 1/2 and whole sims sit idle for several months because I needed/wanted the land, but it took me all that time to get around to developing it. I also have parcels around SL that are nothing but a prim farm for something that might be outside of your draw distance.

people will often put a hugh sale price on their land thinking

"Well the land isnt really for sale, but if someone wants it really badly - They can have it for X"

Lets say you bought a plot for 10k

and you paid 10K for all the stuff on it.

You aren't really sentimental about the place - so you just have it for sale for 30K. You don't really want to sell, but making a 10K profit (plus the stuff you can salvage) would be cool too.

In the 900 Million case that person really doesn't want to sell, but if someone wants to pay 900 Million I'm sure they would be okay with relocating.

In this case, relocating in RL, to a house with stately pillars and servants quarters. You're right; I think they'd be okay with it.

I just thought that maybe there are better ways to invest the $125/mth.

Off topic but I want to say Hi, Kaimi, you're my neighbor to the north :) I own the sim south of Rizzo, where your store is. :)

It's only a winner if someone buys it at that price. Sometimes people advertise their land for a ridiculously high price just because they can.

Hi Cristalle! Actually every time you say something smart in here I feel a kind of irrational pride, thinking to my self, "That's my neighbor! She's an expert!" I like what you've done with your sim.

By the way does the land that is is for sale for 900,000,000 have something special included like custom buildings, store content too?
And the land on auctions is this set up by Lindens only or residents?

That listing closed with no bids and no winner. Obviously a Linden clerical error.

No it was a serious one.

Since if they use the land $125 / month is no biggie. Lots of people spend that much.

I suppose they may have sky boxes / etc.

If they dont use the land - yeah seems pretty dumb to have a sales price it will never sell for.

But then huge tracks of Second Life are empty and people pay tier on it all.

Half the time I wander the grid I expect to see tumbleweeds roll by in the streets.

That price is over US$3.2 million. It's obviously not a serious attempt to sell, not even to someone that would hit the button by accident. Not even Anshe would have that kind of bankroll sitting in her account.
