Hi everyone, I'm the ResMod (Resident Moderator).
Naming names is only a problem if you are doing it to insult the person. If people ask where you purchased a product you are free to answer (unless you have justed totally bashed the product).
It's really simple: Don't use the forums to attack each other. The forums are not for dispute resolution. And don't play silly buggers with the rules and try to get around them in creative ways, I wasn't born yesterday *gives a big Cheshire Cat smile*.

From: Brenda Connolly "Mr Fawlty, Mr Fawlty. There is Fire". "No Manuel, No fire" Do you know what that fire extinguisher did? It exploded in my face. I mean, what is the point of a fire extinguisher? It sits there for months, and when you actually have a fire - when you actually need the bloody thing - it blows your head off! I mean, what is happening to this country? It's bloody Wilson!

Cherry's a big girl and can play with matches if she wants.
I want to, too! K.C., would you please post the name of your fire's creator? Apparently, the vendor's no longer at the location you gave (Astylus).

I'd love to get this fire for when my unwanted, despised neighbors from the mall decide to intrude and pay me a visit.

Campfire location again
10-02-2007 18:17
Hi again.
Not sure why the location didn't work. Maybe I keyed it wrong.
The fire's creator was Mandy Medusa. I found the store again by looking in her Profile Picks. It's called "Mandy's Shop" at Astylus 79, 193, 128. The fire is indeed there -- behind you when you TP in, a box with red circles and a red stripe around the top. You have to turn around to see it. There are actually two sizes of fire within the box.
Any marketing brought about by this topic was purely unintentional. I really just wanted to figure out if catching people on fire is normal and how to turn the darn thing off. You guys came through in flying colors for me! Thanks. --KC

Response from creator
10-03-2007 06:18
I just got pointed to this thread by a visitor in my shop. Boy have I been laughing! (grin, I still am!) I wanted to make a realistic fire, and yes the fire dies when you go below sea level. I allso made a fire extinguisher for those who dont live near open water. If its any help for you KC: The new version is fully menu controlled. Catching on fire is settable now, so your visitors wont accidentally burn themselves. and thanks for the publicity I guess Regards, Mandy Medusa

I bought the small one, and it's just right for my beachside firepit. One thing...could you add an on/off switch to the menu?

On/off
10-03-2007 08:28
Its allways nice to have customers react and state what they would like.
So, I added an ON/OFF switch.
The OFF mode kills the flames, lowers the rising smoke to minimum, kills allmost all the ground smoke, minimizes the glow, sets the sound to 20%, kills the flickering and prevents people from getting burned.
ON Sets it to the default values (Rising smoke medium, ground smoke average)
After setting it to either ON or OFF the other commands still work, you can fine tune it to your needs.
Mandy.

Update
10-03-2007 10:29
I sent you an update Nika Just so everyone knows: The fire doesnt come with auto updates. My REAL business in SL is making security devices (like a sim radar combat system) that DO come with lifetime updates. The fire is just too cheap to go through all the trouble. I made it in my spare time and I love perfecting it. If anyone asks I will gladly give him/her the update, but I wont take action myself. I'll be away for a couple of months soon (yes I do have a RL job as well, and its in IT, of course) so please dont panick if I dont react to your IM. When I get back I'll probably spend 4 days reading through all my SL email My best whishes to all of you, Mandy.

Brilliant idea Mandy, and thanks for the proper coordinates KC - the first set dropped me in a wilderness dumping ground.

I am SO going to buy this now! I've been annoyed for ages by people walking through fires unharmed!
