I obviously don't live in the USA so im not 2 sure if this is correct. The green markers will be trees, the red shape in the middle will have a statue and water thingy in and the blue markers is where the (dead) grass & leaves will be, is this right or am i missing something basicly i'm asking because i have 2 create 4 1024x1024 textures, each will be light & shadow mapped, and it will be a king sized pain in the arse if i have 2 alter it again later

1154 by 810 is not a small picture 81328 bytes is a bit on the large size, especially when posting on a forum

I'm not sure what you're asking. Central Park is a large park on the island of Manhattan (New York City). It's not square, and as a whole, it doesn't look anything like the picture you posted - though I imagine there may be one small section of it that does. It's been ages since I've been there, and even when I lived in NY, I only went to a relatively small part of it. I have no recollection of any area bounded by a fence like that with statue in the middle.
I'm guessing you're on a Mac, because that image is very dark on my display. Macs and PCs have different gammas, with the result that people who work on Macs produce images that are darker than intended on PCs. I don't know how that problem is usually solved, but perhaps someone else can help. (And I'm more than willing to believe that Mac did it right - but that doesn't help.) If you're not on a Mac, then it's definitely way too dark.
Regardless of which machine you're on, I wonder if your browser is doing some sort of image resizing. I get the same dimensions as Rhaorth, which is just about my entire screen.
This brings up another issue, which is that your visitors won't take kindly to having to download 4 megabyte textures. Can't it be broken down into smaller textures, repeated?

Oh wait... that arch looks like the arch in "When Harry Met Sally" when Sally drops Harry off in front of Central Park at the beginning of the movie. It is Central Park!

From: Chaos Markstein US Central park/park advice needed The best advice I can give about Central Park is don't go jogging in it at night. As for your build, you could never replicate the entire park in SL, so don't try. With that in mind, the layout you have is as good as any. If you want it to "feel" like the real Central Park, I'd suggest you just Google for some ground-level photos of it, and do your best to replicate the overall character of what you see. Don't get too caught up in the details. In RL, every New Yorker knows the park well enough to be aware of two things. One, the particular part of it they like to go to has a certain look and feel to it. Two, every other part of it has a slightly different look and feel, and it's so big that no one knows every part. So as long as you're pretty close, it'll be good enough. No one is going to say, "Well, it almost had me convinced, but dammit, that rock over there is supposed to be over here, and that oak tree should be a pine tree".

From: Chaos Markstein lol i dont have the space 4 that, i have seen one in a film, but i cant remember it very well it was about that size. Columbus Circle and Bethesda Fountain have structures with octagonal bases like that (latter might be a hex), both have turned up in moves a lot. The layouts don't really match otherwise, but you might look at photos of those to see if they jog your memory.

Which bridge is that in the back ground? I'm trying to figure out if that's a view from the South or the North of the Park? [Edit: Never mind I figured it out. I think my sister's apt is in the gold colored building on the far left side of the pic. ]

Linden Lab is in the tall building. And the middle part is a void sim. (Okay, I just wanted to make this big beautiful photo of New York City load one more time!)

I think that will work fine for a central park in Anytown, USA. You could make the pathways narrower and have more dead grass and trees if you want, but it's fine the way it is.

From: Chaos Markstein its not supposed 2 look like THE NYC central park, just a random central park No such thing. There may be other places in the US that refer to a park as the central park for that place, but there is no concept of a "central park", at least none that I've ever heard. Here in New England, we have town commons, but they're rarely square. NYC has other somewhat well known urban parks, Union Square being the first one that comes to my mind - and I'm not sure if it's really square, but it's close. So don't worry about it being authentic to the US - as long as you don't call it Central Park. An urban park in London or many other cities could pass as such in the older east coast cities (NY, Boston, Philadelphia, etc.), and probably some of the northern midwest cities (Chicago, Detroit, etc.) It could even pass in some southeastern cities. But if you go to areas with other climates and histories, you'll find very different architectural styles. Florida would be different, the southwest would be very different.

If you purchased 64 estate sims and lined them up 4 by 16 you could do the entire Central Park plus some of the bordering street area. You'd also have the most impressive park in all of Second Life.
